Cool Glitch...

I have also have not gotten my instant email notifications since May 4th.
I received a web response that my emails have bounced back because my address has changed - it has not.
Not only have my notifications ceased, but my screen saver disappeared, and has become some morphed version of the word "journal," I think.
Can you help me with this process?
I'd like my screen saver restored.
And I would like my email notifications back in place.
I miss them.
Thank you.

Well, it's working! Seems all my notifications have been switched from daily to instant and I've gotten about 10 already! I'd better go change my preferences before I clog cyberspace

Thanks for you help Judy!

I'm still not getting notifications. I did check with my ISP, and the problem isn't at its end. I'm aware of the workaround of getting a separate address just for these notices, but I'm not going to do that. When the notification problem affects this many of us the same way, then I bet the problem is at the sending end. I hope one of the administrators will find out whether there's a way to correct it at your end.

Meg, I hope so too! This is NOT a convenient work-around and shouldn't be necessary!

I've made some changes to our mail server that might resolve this issue. Let me know if you still have problems.

Check your subscribed threads to set "instant" to the ones you want instant notification. Let me know if this is still happening.

Yes, it's still happening...or not happening. Judy said she got notices at her new address, but 12 hours late, so I waited over 24 hours to let you know: my notification is set to instant, I've gotten no email notifications, and I've seen many new posts in my subscribed threads. Other people have mentioned this in the journals.

O.k., just a few notes on how to get back on track and see if you still have a problem:

1. Make sure to re-subscribe to your threads. The bouncing error will reset you subscribed threads to "web only". So, change it back to how you like it.

2. Also check your default subscription method, as that gets reset as well.

3. If you have updated your account with a different email, make sure to activate it by clicking the link in the activation email.

4. If you have no received the activation email, request a new activation email by visiting this link:
http://forum.lowcarber.org/register.php?do=requestemail

5. Activation email might arrive in you spam folder of junk mail, check there to make sure you have not missed it.

From the server's side, everything looks good, and no more email issues.

Thank you for your continuing attempts to restore email notification. It's not working, at least not for me. At least once a day, I reset my subscriptions. In similar situations, the group owner or administrator overrides incorrect individual bounce notices. Please turn off my bounce notice.

O.k., I have just found a glitch responsible for our notification problem, and it has been fixed. Please try the above steps again to make sure this issue has been resolved.

I tried several times yesterday and this morning and still didn't get the emails. I finally had to break your rules and register under a new name with a different email address to be able to communicate with you - that worked!

Shaw, who is my ISP, denies the problem is with them so I presume it's a compatability issue. Anyhow, I have a gmail address and would like to have my GlendaRC name and profile back if possible.

Thanks for anything you can do! Glenda

hi Glenda,

Follow this procedure to log in with your original GlendaRC account:
  1. log out from "amGlendaRC"
  2. click the forgotten password link .. http://forum.lowcarber.org/login.php?do=lostpw .. and enter the email address that you used for this new "amGlendaRC" account. (I had to change it manually for you)
  3. be sure to click the link in the activation email as soon as you get it, as it will expire in 24 hrs (safety feature).
Once you've successfully logged in with your original account, I'll delete this new one to avoid confusion.

Well, it's clear that the problem isn't with everyone's ISPs; that's useful information. I'm not receiving notifications, and my notification option continually resets itself to "no notification". Please correct it so that it continues to indicate "instant notification ", and maybe that will enable the notifications.
