Default Your Lasagna.

I watched House and Home. Surprise surprise, you were on. I made your Lasagna from memory since every cookbook I own is already packed. It was so good.

I had a tomato sauce recipe with a good amount of parsley, basil, oregano, and tarragon. I was out of Tarragon but decided to add some anise, but quickly forgot.

Being in the mist of exhaustion did not help. Tell me if some ground anise might have been a good substitution for the Tarragon.

Pene

The pesto in the ricotta was so good I don’t know how I lived without it before. I always had trouble getting the taste right in the cheese spinach mixture.

Apologies for butting in on your query to Karen but.......

I always use some ground fennel which gives a licorishy type flavour and brings out the sweetness of the tomatoes.

Great idea Tony
I have used Fennel seeds and even Caraway sprinkle over Donald’s Pizza I just never thought of putting it in the Lasagna sauce.

Hmm...

It doesn't rock my boat to have either tarragon or fennel/anise in that particular lasagna.

But you should do whatever suits your taste, not mine.

Good thing I did not put any on then. My DIL‘s parents are from Sardinia and she puts a minute pinch of ground anise in her tomato sauce.
You do not know what you taste. it just caresses a memory without naming a flavor.
However, you are right it might just swear with the pesto.
Thank you Karen.
