Default A few questions.

A few questions about CAD..(I haven't read the book-I just bought an Atkins book so bear with me ..I need to make a trip to the library to find a CAD book.)

My DH and I started Atkins and are on day 6 of induction. We are both fairly misreable but have lost 5+ pounds each. I am not all that comfortable with the high fat of Atkins and would kill for some strawberries or a peice of whole wheat bread.

Can you tell me if I have this right about CAD...

1. Meals During the day have to be lowfat and low carb..so If I am already doing a lowfat Atkins-or trying to I should be fine, no?

2. Your reward meal is really anything you want?? You mean I could make a lasagna and a a big garden salad with a diet soda then have pumpkin pie and a glass of milk for dessert and I woudol be fine?? As long as we ate it in1 hour??

It can't be that easy...i must be missing something.

The meals during the day are very low carb, not low fat (you don't want to combine low fat and low carb).

The reward meals are balanced between low carb veggie, fat/protein and carbs. They aren't an hour long donut binge, but your examples would probably be okay.

Hi-
I am actually on CALP- HTH.
You don't eat high fat, but not low-fat. 2 meals a day are only protein and veggies. The RM, reward meal, is a salad then 1/3 protein/1/3 veggies, 1/3 carbs. So no, your example would NOT be a dinner I would ever have. It would be a salad, chicken breast, piece of lasagna, spinach. OR salad, steak, cauliflower, pie. OR salad, burger on a roll, brussel sprouts. OR salad, chicken, okra, raspberries and yogurt (what I actually had tonight).
Please look at the old posts; check out the CHeat Sheet, and read CALP. I love this program.
