Question Coconut Oil

I have bought some coconut oil today, how much should I have each day and is it better to eat raw or to cook with, must admit I tried a teaspoon and the texture made me gag but the taste was quite nice

I put the large tablespoon of oil in my mouth and let it dissolve slowly. What surprises me is that it makes my mouth feel clean and fresh, not oily.

I make coconut bark: 4tbsp oil (microwave just to liquify), 1tbsp unsweetened cocoa, 1 packet splenda. Freeze in the bottom of a tupperware, break apart and munch. That's the basic recipe, there are lots of variation in the forum kitchen.

Where do you buy the coconut oil? Health food stores? Any particular brand?

walmart has it down in TX, but their stuff doesn't taste that good. if you are fond of a good coconut taste, get virgin organic. GNC has it, HEB grocery stores in TX have 3 different kinds depending on store size

I've made bark out of the walmart kind, and its ok. no coconut taste though

I like a tablespoon in a mug of coffee with my cream & a splash of Davinci's SF AMaretto.
Keeps me full until lunch time.

I've had 1-2 tablespoons daily of virgin cold pressed coconut oil for about a year now. These are just my own observations.

I've not noticed it's made any difference for my thyroid, but I've got a great Dr and I think my armour is at optimized levels for me so maybe it's already as good as it's going to get.

My HDL (good cholesterol) has gone up significantly since I've started taking coconut oil. I don't recall the exact numbers but the Dr loved my last readings. Also, my skin feels pretty nice, and I didn't have the normal dry skin issues this past winter I usually do.

I'm not sure what else it's helping but it's sure not hurting anything.
