Default Please help, I feel half dead.

Hi everyone,
I've been feeling unusually tired & sleepy for the last 2 weeks. Today I went to see my GP but I left b4 I got to tell him about my problems (The story is in my journal, if u're interested )
Here're my problems:
(1) Extremely tired & sleepy all the time. I've been getting more than 12 hrs of sleep a day but I'm still very sleepy.
(2) Chest pains. My heart feels "too hot" & "too heavy".
(3) Hot flashes. Happens about 6-7 times a day. I get sweaty for no reasons.
(4) My arms are like lead, very sore muscles.
(5) Sore back.
(6) Shortness of breath.
(7) During the past couple of days, I've a metallic (blood) taste in my mouth.
I get tired so easily that it's almost ridiculous. I've been going thru a very tough time mentally. I read that stress can cause the above problems.
I need your input on this. I thank u all in advance.

Bebe

Post Stress and Depression

Not that I can give out medical advice (about humans anyway)...

Sounds like all of the above could be coming from stress and resulting in anxiety and depression. Maybe you should call or make another appointment with your GP or a psychiatrist.....

Hope you feel better soon!

sounds as though you should be at your Doctors door yesterday. Blood work if you insurance will pay for it. How long have you been LC? Have you had Thyroid problems in the past? My personal opinion is , if I don't feel well for more than 3 days in a row and can't determine the cause, medical advice does wonders to ease the stress of worrying about it. Somtimes we get sick even when we are kicking butt. MyraH

I concur - get thee back to the doctor. I had similar symptoms a few years ago and it turned out to be mononucleosis - but you'll never know until you get some blood tests done.

Hi Animaldoc- Thank u for replying to my thread. I suspect that my problems are stress-related because I tend to get extremely short of breath (out of breath) when I'm nervous, or when I read sometime tragic in the newspapers

Hi MyraH- Thanks for responding to my thread. I've been LCing since 1st Jan, 02. I'll get a full medical check-up asap.

Hi Kristine- Thanks for responding to my thread, Kristine Could u please tell me what's mononucleosis?

I'm really grateful for all your input U all have a great day!

regards,
Bebe

To know what it is would only lead to stressing you out more bebe!

Go and see a doctor. Don't mess with your health!

Yes .. your problem does indeed sound like a virus (or possibly allergic reaction, do you get hayfever or other seasonal allergy problems??) than anything diet-related, which would've happened way before this.

"Mono" is a virus, and the symptoms include what you've described, plus fever (have you checked your temperature?), very sore throat and swollen neck glands .. the swollen glands are often so tender it's hard to turn the neck or head. If you have a look inside your mouth, the back of the throat will be VERY red, and and occasionally little white spots too.

Off to the doctor for you!!

Doreen

Hi Karen- Thanks for responding to my thread, Karen. I did go to see my GP today..... but I left b4 I told him my problems because he was totally against LC, plus he called me silly (Now that's a known fact but I thought my daftness is none of his business really )

Hi Doreen- Thank u angel.
Yikes, blind me! My throat's been kind sore the last couple of days. I've checked my temperature & I don't have a fever. Yet I feel "fever-like" sometimes My neck is kinda swollen too, yikes. I'm going to see (another) doctor tomorrow morning. I did have hay fever when I lived in England. Doreen, is this "mono-thingy" something serious? Am I gonna get a lot of needles? Operation? Ahhhh....

Thank u all for your care & input. I'm touched.

Bebe .. yes and no. If it IS mononucleosis (and it may not be .. we had another member recently with similar symptoms. Turned out to be her tonsils). Don't guess ... the doctor will take a throat swab and maybe a blood sample. Mono can be serious if it's not treated, and there is a chance that you can do some harm to yourself if you try to continue working, heavy lifting, stress etc ... so best to get lots of rest. Here's some good info about Mononucleosis from the Mayo Clinic. Also from the Mayo Clinic is an article about Influenza which has many similar symptoms.

I hope you're feeling better soon, and the dr. gets to the bottom of things tomorrow.

Doreen

Just for the record, my only symptoms of mono were the type of *extreme* fatigue and weakness like Bebe was describing - which is why it's important to let the doctor figure out what could be going on. Those are sypmtoms that could be almost literally *anything*. Take care, Bebe...

Ditto what everyone else said. Get thee to a GOOD doctor ASAP. If my doctor called me silly, I'd probably walk out on him too and never go back. Insults are unprofessional and uncalled for!

Hi Doodle,
Thank u for responding to my thread Thanks for the explanation, too
I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow
How's things in Ireland? I went to Dublin once when I was a kid. I can't really remember much about the trip but I remember vividly that all the Irish kids were really friendly & they gave me toffees
Have a great day!

regards,
Bebe

Hi Bebe...
Dublin is great right now, allthough wet and windy as ever... but that's ok, that's what makes it "dear old dirty dublin!". If you came here now I would be sure NOT to give you any toffee... a low carbers worst nightmare! I hope you are feeling better, keep me updated ok?
Doods.
