AntiM-- Thank YOU for understanding my point. Awareness.

After all, a LOT of recognized disorders have come to be regarded as valid, maybe even ones on a page with a poorly worded questionnaire!

Fibromyalgia patients are still told it's all in their heads a LOT, because the symproms are vague and hard to pin down. For that matter PMS wasn't really recognized until relatively recently. Back in my Grandma's day, they were written off as hysterical, heck even my MOM's generation was told it was all in their minds. "It's not that bad." "Everyone has that problem, go home and bake some cookies."

SO if they want to give it a name that a person takes nutrition to the extreme of running their life and making them miserable, I'll be glad for someone who gets help.

As Dr Phil says to people who don't like him.."You HAVE a remote control, change the channel!"

Again - according to the information on the site - the orthorectic is not consumed by thoughts of losing weight.
Not many people on this site fit that criterium. Since I'm in close contact with many maintainers here I also know they are far from being obsessive about what they eat. Still - thank you for starting this thread for the benefit of the few of us....

It is sad when your success in incorporating LC into you life is so unbelievable to some that they rather believe you're obsessed than healthy and happy. I've heard comments on how strict and orthodox my life must be often enough.
Even a simple advice to someone to do 'clean induction' is often ridiculed. In the name of diversity, of course........

And again, as YOU said, you can't diagnose someone from some posts in a thread. That goes both ways.
You know from contact with a few what their attitudes are, but have no way of knowing how many may be suffering in silence, how many are posting what they really feel, how many are closing other areas of life in favor of their food plan, as I have no way of knowing if someone is serious who posts about feeling nearly suicidal from a bite of birthday cake. Maybe they are being overly dramatic, maybe not. There are very few cases that we actually know if what is posted is accurate or not.

Advice to do a clean induction, to me, is a separate issue entirely. Following a plan as written is different than being afraid to ever raise your carbs over induction level, or feeling like a complete failure for eating .45 grams over the limit. I realize a lot of people can't GO over 20 grams, but to me, it's the FEAR that makes the difference. Normal=avoiding unhealthy foods and refined garbage.... Area of concern=feelings of dread and fear of eating whole categories of food.

I don't believe anyone should be ridiculed for advising a clean induction, conversely, I don't think lecturing someone who wants to eat a scoop of lc ice cream for dessert accomplishes much either. I think it's great to be able to ask and even to hear what we don't want to hear, like that our beloved Endulge bars might be why we aren't losing weight. Giving someone a friendly warning without coming down on them
