Default The food industry pays ‘influencer’ dietitians to shape your eating habits

Quote:
In all, at least 35 posts from a dozen health professionals were part of the coordinated campaign by American Beverage. The trade group paid an undisclosed amount to 10 registered dietitians, as well as a physician and a fitness influencer, to use their social media accounts to help blunt the WHO’s claims that aspartame, a mainstay of Diet Coke and other sodas, is ineffective for weight loss and “possibly carcinogenic.”

Not surprising. This is happening more and more frequently today with products from food and beyond. "Influencers" and "experts" are living large being paid to lie and distort. Ethics seem to be missing in action when one can feather the nest. The truth is bought to be turned into something else. What a world . . . .

It took decades for filmmakers to teach the audience to understand jump cuts, and they stopped drawing the little dotted line from Indiana Jones went from Washington DC to Paris, for instance.

Now, you jump to a scene with the Eiffel Tower in it, and the audience goes, "Oh, yes, Paris."

As a parent in the 80's, I sit with children and watch their shows with them, and point out "selling" in the ads and the show, and we would discuss. They complained about thinking at the time, but both of them remembered.

Advertising with Freudian principles really does work. Which is why I prefer Jung

In my house talking is allowed during TV time. And I comment on ad placement within a scene. Funny though is most of the companies are gone now. So lost on my children without Mom,'s comment.

The Zachim bridge says Boston. The water tank says Boston.

I stopped diet coke. Took a bit of effort. Its deleterious affect on GI microbes makes sense. If I focus on the gut of my sheep for health, and constantly monitor horse health by checking droppings everyday, whydid I not see my own GI as a health indicator?? I woke up!!

Started with finding substitutes. Then bought a 2 liter bottle. Then had wicket leg cramps!! Kept working on sub for a two liter a day habit. Then afraid of dealing with very painful cramps. Only one small serving is safe. A McDonalds large causes leg cramps.

Next step. A month without AS.

AS is occasional now. Thinking of how to give it up permanently.

Do I go back to real sugar??

For now, sweets are rare. Special treats. No longer regular fare. Avoids both cane sugar and AS.

I actually. Have a tablespoon of jam on my cream cheese omelet. Or I'll have a coffee with a couple little gluten free cookies. And. That seems to work better for me than the artificial sweeteners, frankly. My body is too worn out from healing to also glycogenesis. So it turned out adding. A small amount of carbs, even in the form of sugar. Took some stress off my liver. And I overall felt better.

What's astonishing is that at this low level, I don't crave it. I can eat fruit. The tablespoon of jam seems to have the same effect for a similar amount of carbs.

The FTC decided to take some action.

Quote:
The Federal Trade Commission sent warning letters Monday to the American Beverage Association, a lobbying group whose members include Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, as well as the Canadian Sugar Institute and the health influencers who collectively have over 6 million followers on TikTok and Instagram. The agency flagged nearly three dozen social media posts that it said failed to clearly disclose who was paying the influencers to promote artificial sweeteners or sugary foods
