Strip loin, asparagus and half a baked potato*. Two very small steaks... hopefully SO won't want his.

*That's my 'sleeping pill'. Insomnia is bad enough when I work normal hours, but I'm on the 4:00 am shift right now.

Tonight I will have: a t-bone steak.

Just the steak. And 5 ounces dry red wine.

Heaven!

after spending a day at a state park, i was starving. i had been enjoying a nature trail and then a rowboat, and was in a tiny town.
my phone told me there were 5 restaurants- 3 of which were fast food or pizza.
one was called pub and called a steak house, but the website referred to itself as casual and affordable.
So in we waltz in gym shorts and tees.....this was a pretty upscale place.
The were SO rude that after appetizers, we left for a long, hungry drive home!

a portabello stuffed with shrimp and a creamy swiss sauce
a few bites of crabcake with their homemade (not sweet) slaw

once home, we popped some champagne to celebrate my boyfriend's amazing evaluation at work, and then snacked on roasted pumpkin seeds. yum!

but i did wake up hungry, which i normally don't. and i felt bad my fella didn't get the steak he wanted, because of the terrible service.

now i really believe in dressing appropriately, but if you describe the restaurant as "casual upscale", are located right next to a large state park, and inside a strip mall.....surely, we can't be the only people who walk in looking under-dressed!

I had a similar situation in a posh neighborhood in DC once, after a charity bike run- but that time, they treated me graciously. I left a HUGE tip, and have recommended the place to many, many people.

sorry, i will end my rant now.

We're going out with the in-laws to our favorite Mexican restaurant for Father's Day. I'm having the shrimp fajitas (no tortillas - but then again, I always liked the "filling" more than the tortillas). This dish is TDF. Happy Father's Day!

i love fajita insides, too Glendora- shrimp are my favorite!

tonight i was working, so i had a quick egg and laughing cow cheese scramble beforehand with sf catsup.

but when my boyfriend picked me up, he had cooked a ton of extra chicken and broccoli stirfry (soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, a touch of splenda and garlic), so i just picked out the broccoli- about a cup.....
Wasn't hungry enough for chicken but that broccoli was soooo good.
guess chicken for lunch tomorrow

on saturday, i was camping with about 15 friends- despite the monsson, we kept the fire going, so i got to have chicken sausages- yum!!!!
and snacks were turkey jerky, veggies and hummus, and cheese.
there was a fair amount of vodka and diet sprite, as well.

sunday was the "last supper" for one of those friends before she deployed this morning for a one yr tour in the middle east, so 4 of us ordered a ton of sushi, since she has been told to avoid it while away.
We all shared a bunch of stuff- i stuck with sashimi, some sashimi salad, and some mooshu pork.
it was a perfect send off for her.....

I also had Japanese food on Saturday night. We had sashimi, yellow tail which we love.
We had a salad, a soft-shell crab roll, cooked beef roll with green onion inside, cooked spinach with sesame paste sauce and hot green tea. yum!
