I think at least some of his compound butters are pre-mixed spice packages that are actually designed to make a compound butter.

Very smart, those Swedes!

I've taken to soft-frying (rather like soft boiling) eggs in coconut oil and then adding tons of kerrygold butter to them as I dump them in a bowl, add some spices, cut them up and eat it with a spoon. It totally reminds me of some kind of soft-boiled egg stew my mother used to make for me when I was a little girl and felt bad (she died when I was 9 so I can't ask her what it was, but I always wondered!). It must have had butter in it too given how similar this taste is to me. The problem is, 4 eggs with a ton of butter is so filling I'm having a hard time eating anything else all day, even if I have it as brunch.

I was buying kerrygold ($6 for 8oz) at the small local grocer and then they ran out. It is nowhere else in my region, nor is any other decent butter. I was totally mourning and didn't want to eat anything at all. I finally discovered that grasslandbeef.com is now carrying kerrygold. If you buy 10, 8oz bars (you'll have to get 2# more of stuff for their minim order, I got some ground raw grassfed beef and organs as petfood, my cats went nuts for it), there's a $7.50 flat rate for shipping, and it still ends up being cheaper for me than getting it locally. And they ship overnight, in this big box with a thick closed styrofoam form and a metallic temperature bag inside so everything is still frozen when you get it. (Er, no association to them, they are usually overpriced IMO but I was happy to find the stuff online.)

Garlic butter with some caraway seed sounds really good, but since I don't eat any form of bread.... well I did get some almond meal, I have flax seeds I could make into meal, I suppose I could make a breadish of some sort. I'm rather avoiding stuffing O6's into me though, and heating the O3's makes them PUFA's or so I've heard (is that a myth?).

HOw about a pat on some hot sauerkraut and/or sausage (kielabas, bratwurst, both come to mind)? hmm, on top of a fried pork chop. I don't use caraway seeds enough, I think I'll try this. Thanks for the idea!

I used to be a butter snacker. Now, thanks to this thread, I've remembered how great it was for kipping cravings away.

And I see a lot of new ideas and recipes too Can't wait to buy and try some..

I'm posting here so I can (hopefully) find my way back - I've been eating Kerrygold butter this week (I'm on day 5 of induction). I love it but might be eating too much fat if there is such a thing!

I don't think you can have too much fat in induction because it is so helpful in kicking cravings to the curb. Once the cravings have gone and you're eating to satiety, many people find fat consumption to be self-limiting just because it does cause satiety. Really, the only time fat might become an issue is if you just can't lose any weight anymore, yet you know that realistically you should still be able to. Note the word "realistically". If that happens, then counting calories can be helpful and, of course, fat has a lot of them.

YESSSSS I'm reviving this. I am a butter lover. I COULD finish an 8 oz block in a day... but I don't let myself. If a block lasts me a week it's a miracle. Usually 2 to 3 days max. I like to cube it and eat it like cheese (I actually am not a big cheese eater, and prefer butter). Sometimes I bite it right off the stick. This is my first few weeks ever going high fat... and I can't believe I can eat a stick of butter and feel lighter the next day.

edit: by the way, I read every post on every page of this thread!

Just read your post and had to head to the kitchen for a snack. ;-)

I love butter off the knife. Eat it all the time. I haven't been able to find Kerrygold where I live and I usually just buy the store brand.

Of course! I don't eat lots of it at a time, but I sure nibble, nibble, nibble when I'm preparing food.

1DogDay, I think your digestive system will tell you if you're eating too much fat. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.

What is everyone's favorite way to use butter in food? I have a new addiction to cream of mushroom soup! Just mushrooms sauteed in loads of butter with heavy cream and spices... I guess it's probably considered more of a "sauce" or a topping for meat, but I do what I want!

That "soup" sounds good. I will have to try that.

I put butter in my coffee, on top of my scrambled eggs along with hot sauce, on top of steak...almost anything I eat.
