Exclamation Question

Yesterday was my first day LCing (Atkins) and I did the FitDay thing. Well...I'm a little freaked out by the pie graph for the day. It shows 3% carbs, 44% protein and 53%fat! Is this normal???

I did get the Atkins book yesterday and have looked over as much as possible (in the two hours I had to read it) and I never could find anything that gave me a guideline as to how much protein or fat I should be eating. I ended up around 1900 calories, though.

Should I even be concerned with the amount of protein and fat? Maybe I'm just having a hard time letting go of all the low fat conditioning.

Any advice out there?

Thanks!

You might want to increase your fat to around 70% and decrease Protein. Mine is usually 70-75% fat, 20-25% protein and 2-5% carbs. The higher the fat, usually the better the weight loss.
I've read that protein can convert to glucose, so not to overdo it, but it seems that you would REALLY have to overdo it on the protein for this to happen. I'm not sure on this one...but I would watch protein somewhat.

Ditto on trying to decrease the protein percentage. I thought I read somewhere on this board that too much protein is not good, it gets stored on your body as excess fat. Also, remember, FitDay does not automatically subtract fiber from your carb count, even though you input it. Fat intake is your friend on Atkins.

Your fat should be higher - 60% or so. I find that when I was doing ATKINS I needed to keep fat higher to burn my own fat faster. Sounds like you are eating a lot of protein - watch that - too much can deter your loss - a good ratio is 65/5/30 or close to that.
