A lot of people don't even eat eggs because they don't like them. Whey protein is fine. You've got one with low carb grams, which is mainly what matters. Whey protein is fine for you. I mix it with diluted cream so it will have better taste, a higher, healthier fat content and more thickness. Good luck to you.

Be aware that whey protein lacks or is low in some amino acids. An egg has ALL the essential amino acids. You can get complete amino acid proteins from all "meat sources" if you eat meat. FYI.

I am not a fan of breakfast, but I need to get fiber in first thing in the morning to keep my system happy. I mix 2tsp of psyllium husk into a whey shake every morning. I get my protein (35g) and my fiber.
I am not a fan of the sweetener in the shake, but I find if the water is really cold it's not so bad. The psyllium thicken it a bit too!
Certainly helps me get my numbers up. I may start adding some heavy cream too, to get my fat numbers up.
C.

If the whey protein is low on amino acids and eggs are complete, then I am doing it right. I always blend an egg or two in my whey shakes.

eggs from free ranging chickens are by far a superior protein source - and if you have time for them in the morning the best whole food source.

I use a pea/rice/cranberry protein powder as it is easier on the digestive system than whey, and it scores 100% on the amino acid profile. Since dairy is inflammatory I wasn't sure how whey protein plays a role in that - or is it so unlike dairy that it no longer contains lactose? I wasn't sure, but decided to avoid it doing a bit more research. My choices obviously worked as I lost 85 lbs in 8 mo - and have mainted, and am not longer pre type II diabetic.

My chiropractor and I discussed protein powders before I started using them - as I needed something fast and convenient in the morning for breakfast. Interestingly, he said he tested 44 popular brands of protein shakes and found heavy trace metals in all but 2. These were well known brands, too. I highly recommend doing your own diligence and confirming with the company of the brand you consider to ensure it is free of trace metals, GMO (genetically modified ingredients), etc.

My nephew is paleo and he consumes three chicken breasts and steamed broccoli for breakfast, but it certainly isn't me!

The taste is personal preference. I myself, do not like whey protein and would prefer eggs in the morning rather than whey protein. Yet, I used to have a small can of whey protein on my desk at work, just in case I needed a quick fix. Eggs do not offer you such flexibility. I can't eat eggs when it is cold!

I use a lot of protein powder (sucralose sweetened vanilla whey) - it is in some of the Atkin's book recipes, and it hasn't caused weight gain in me! I eat it 1-2x daily many days.

Easy enough to find at Whole Foods here in So.Cal, probably you could find it at any health food store in your area.

A funny thing I have taken to doing is substituting whey powder for flour in certain recipes -- partly or whole in some cases-- my family never realized the diff! Of course you couldn't do it for everything, but anything that helps reduce flour and increase protein is a positive change in my book.

Lobolite
Most grocery stores have whey protein, wal-mart does so do most drugstores, not a lot of brands/ flavors but still it is readily available in my small town (pop 25,000) alternatively you can buy it off the internet in a variety of places.

I buy my Whey Protein at Walmart. There are so many good recipes to make shakes that anyone can tweak it to their own liking..... I love it!
