That depends on you. Do you want a book that discusses the science behind low carb (like Taubes), or an advice book on following a particular low carb plan (like DANDR), or a book with lots of low carb recipes (I like George Stella),or something that is more paleo with a focus on nature, or something addressing the politics of low carb, etc.?

I would like one that just tells me what foods are ok and a path to follow. I am good it the kitchen so I don't need recipes. So I guess DANDR??? Is that an Atkins book?? Or a different author??

DANDR (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution) was actually written by Dr. A, and it is probably his most popular book. I think it is a great initial LC book, if you are leaning towards Atkins.

Of course, Atkins is not the only LC plan and it certainly isn't the only LC book out there, but unless you are opposed to Atkins, I think it is a good start.

If you want a quick start guide, Dr. Kurt Harris also has a website that has some good, condensed information: http://www.archevore.com/get-started/ He basically gies you a 12-step program to follow, and you can tackle as many steps at a time as you are willing to tackle. He also has some really interesting articles on his site.

I'm sure others will have different advice.

Thanks. I has taken me since Feb. 2007, so it certainly has not been quick. But, really, what is the alternative to sticking with it?

2011 would come one way or another. So, I'd just as soon I be down 78 pounds as still 230, or even more. I first read DANDR in 1999, but I didn't get around to really trying LC for more than a day or two until eight years later.

Welome to the forum. This place is a wealth of information.
