I used to have an employee from Jamaica, so I'm pretty familiar with how Jamaican society views homosexuality. I know that it's almost impossible for anyone to be open in regard to their orientation. As much as we struggle for equality in this country, I can't help but be grateful for what we do have. While I long for the day I can mark "Married" when asked my marital status and file a joint tax return with my husband, I know it's come a long way when I can display a photo of my him and me with our kids on my desk at work (able to be seen by coworkers and clients alike) and not get crap for it...

I know how tough that can be, but be grateful, as I can tell you if you were in Jamaica, it would be far worst.

For me I am ok with it as I am bi, and try my best to lock my a$$ up in the closet.

Is possible to set a challenge for this thread.

I am sure this is a good way to get others who have not chat in here for the longest while to come in.

Any suggestions on what kind of challenge we could start with.

That's great, happygrrl!

I haven't been on the board in ages, but I'm around to chat if anyone is interested in getting the thread going.

I had a great big massive whine in my journal about how I walk past gay mags in bookstores like Borders and I never feel like the guys on there reflect me; my weight makes me feel like a minority even in the "gay culture". Most people don't understand how I feel, though.

Anyways, I'm trying to get back on track so I'd love to chat with anyone who's interested!

Hey All

Is it possible for us to come up with our own little challenge, I am not sure but maybe that will help me and the others who are trying in here.

Hi I just got back on the wagon myself LOL I'm doing atkins with intermittent meat & egg fast. I was considering trying banta but its more complicated. I know Atkins so I will just stick with that, but I seem to loose ALOT while eating nothing but meat & eggs. Im going to do induction for about a week then switching to M/E for a week..ect. My inlaws came recently, havent seen them in 3 yrs so, I kinda went off plan while they were here. They brought choc chip cookies.. I agree on the challenge..any ideas??

Hi Dragonfly,

Maybe we should break it down in small challenges what you think.

yea..I went out drinking tonight and had a couple cookies to help relieve a sugar headache LOL UGH they were soo sweet it was almost gross!! And all the rum & coke did for me was give me a headache..

If I can just make it one week, one day at a time I would be going somewhere. Mabey we could do week long cheat free challenges..
Right now, I feel like I could really loose some weight if I would just keep the willpower intact, and it really does help to be accountable with others..

but what ive learned so far, after being here off and on for 3 years.. that the most important thing is..to get back on track when you go off plan. Dont let one mishap, slide into a day, a week a month, then forever.. posting daily in our journals and challenges helps keep us inline and accountable moreso.

Support so we dont GIVE up even though we will make mistakes..

I want to start exersising too, really bad..and im trying to find a way to do that. i cant afford, nor have time for a gym, so i think im either buying a treadmill, or just getting some videotapes to use.

But, the question is..do we want a cheat free challenge or a weightloss challenge or something else?? Is there anyone else out there wanting a LGBT challenge of some kind???

Hi Everyone!!
How about a weekly personal challenge that encompasses food and exercise? This week for me would be:
No wine (although I can stay in ketosis - it slows me down)
Exercise: weight training 3X and walk 2X.
Work: scan/upload correspondence files just a reminder to myself! Denise
