Default Low carb /high protein diet

Since starting on this diet I have lost nearly 2 stone in 3 months.
Over the last week I have been having stabbing pains under my rib on right hand side - I can only assume that this may be my gallbladder playing-up again!

Has anyone had this problem?

I'm considering drinking fresh lemon juice in the morning and extra water through the day as I really don't want to go done the road of finding a new diet when this one is so successful.

Congratulations on your weight loss. If you have had gallstones before, assume that's what you mean by acting up, there is a chance of a short-term reaction to a LC diet. This article explains it well and what to do about it. https://www.dietdoctor.com/gallstones-and-low-carb

There are also over 200 comments following this article where readers have suggested their own home remedies...take those with a grain of salt.

Thank you Janet for replying,
I have now been grilling my meat and doubled my intake of water and my gallbladder symtoms have gone away.

Such a relief as I'm reaping the benefits of being able to walking upstairs without pulling myself up holding on to the banister. Now I can look forward to hopefully keep on this diet to lose a few more stone.

That's great news you feel better. Relief from joint pain is also one of the many benefits of eating a LC diet. It reduces inflammation throughout the body. Weight loss will not be as fast as in the first weeks but make it your lifestyle and those stones will roll away. I lived in London a number of years and always liked the visual of a stone of weight ..so graphic You can go to User CP in the green bar and update your current weight anytime.

Gallbladder symptoms are awful! I did find that taking milk thistle supplements really helped, one of the only supplements I have ever tried (and I've tried dozens!) that actually did give me relief. I don't take it regularly now but still keep it around, and take it if I begin to feel any twinges. Never want to get back to the stage where I was in so much pain that I would have agreed to having my head chopped off to relieve the pain.
