Default New Member SAD sufferer

I stumbled across this forum while doing an internet search on SAD (seasonal Affective Disorder) and diet. I have known I have had SAD for several years now and have done relatively well the last couple of years, I started Wellbutrin last year. But, I can really feel my SAD symptoms coming on and I am trying to avoid a really bad winter.

I have been looking into the Serotonin Power Diet, but..... I keep reading that low carb is the way to go for those of us who suffer from SAD. I haven't the slightest idea on how to choose the best low-card diet for SAD.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

I am going to post this both in the SAD forum and the general forum in hopes of getting a few responses.

Thanks

One of the most important treatments for SAD is vitamin D and a sunlamp.

That will stave off a lot of SAD symptoms until deep winter.

Thanks...

I just read that some of you were taking Vitamin D, which I happen to have on hand I have Vitamin D-3 which I will start taking right away, not sure about the dosage yet.

I have also been taking Magnesium at night before bed as well as Wellbutrin.

I'm working on getting a lamp very soon!!

No one has posted since last April...I have been very bad, but we can always ignite the conversation because most of us are still here

I'm sorry I didn't see your post until today.

I know you're taking Wellbutrin (which is the only pharmaceutical approved by the FDA to help improve the symptoms of SAD)

As Zu mentioned dont forget...

Adequate Vitamin D3
5-HTP
SAM-E

All are remarkably helpful with symptoms. And of course don't forget your light therapy. I use a Happy Light by Verilux. I have 3 of them--one at home in front of the computer. In my office in the clinic and in my office in the hospital.
I live on the coast in the pacific northwest. I use my lights ALL year long.

Progress not perfection.

Lisa
