Default Runny Nose!

Hi there, im in 2nd week of enduction, feeling great and looking good. One (and only) problem is increased mucus. Im a smoker so i've always had a little bit of flem from time to time.

When i started LC'ing i had a mild cold. Now it seems im blowing my nose every 15 minutes! Has anyone alse experienced this problem? and if so, is there a multi-vitamin i could take? or a dietry change i could make?

=)

Can't help you but I will suggest that your mild cold has developed into a full blown knockout, exacerbated by the changes that your body is going through as you lower your carb intake. Your body is making the transition of burning carbs for fuel to burning fat for fuel. Perhaps that has weakened your immune system a little, seeing as you already had a mild cold.

hi Jake,

Do you hava allergies or hay fever? It's coming into spring/ summer down your way ... perhaps the increased pollens in the air are causing some problems for you?

Food allergies *generally* cause intestinal upset, gas etc .. but some folks with intolerance to dairy products will report increased mucus production. It's not a lactose problem though, it's the casein protein causing the problem (if that's what it is).

If the problem persists, you might want to pay a visit to the dr. just to make sure there's no infection, virus or the like .
