Unhappy Need Basic Recipes

Ok, I'm a real novice when it comes to cooking and yes I have recipe books.
Can someone tell me how do you cook cauliflower so its like mashed potatoes?
What desserts can you make with sweetener and cream cheese?
(I miss something creamy to eat).
Also can you make jerky using an oven.. I have no microwave or dehydrator. Any other basic thing would be great.

Default questions!!!

I'll try and answer a couple of your questions. Actually I just bought a food dehydrator last week and Doreen shared this website with me...there are lots of ideas for making jerky.

Here's how to make mock potatoes.

http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/recipe...ggieside01.html

I know there are discussions about making these potatoes on the forum. You can try using the search feature at the top right hand side of the page and perhaps you'll find them.

As far as sweetener and cream cheese... Have you tried a mock danish?? My favourite version is with cinnamon and a little brown sugar twin on top, with a tsp of raspberry jam. Then after it's cooked a drizzle of low carb maple syrup! It seems so sinful.

Enjoy

Have you had a look in the Low Carb Recipes in the orange bar at the top of the page? All are contributed by our members.

This is another good recipe site:

http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/lowcarb-recipes.html

I've found lots of goodies here.

For the cream cheese and sweetener, there's always Atkins crustless cheesecake (recipe is in Atkins book in recipes section). Pretty good but really soft consistency. I like my cheesecake a little firmer, but it's still a very nice treat.

Perhaps if you can tell us exactly what you're looking for, someone will have the recipe.

Was the Mocked Potato recipe link I passed on to you, not what you were talking about??

If you read the link with Jerky Recipes there are several that give instructions for the oven. I had a hard time trying to decide which one to try first.

I got the mock mashed potatoes... As soon as I get paid and go to the store, I'll make them and let you know.
What I'm looking for are desserts or sweets, I can make without a microwave that I can give myself and my kids.. I miss sharing treats with them...

Thumbs up Jello dessert

One of my favourite desserts, and I eat it often, is just with sugar free jello and whipped cream. (LIME is the best!!!!)
Make one package of sugar free jello as normal and let it set in a bowl. Mix another package of the same flavour with only 1 cup of boiling water. Put it in the fridge until it is cold and just setting. Whip one cup of whipping cream till firm, then add the partially set jello into it. Then put the cream mixture on top of the already set jello, nad put it int he dridge for ½ hour. Presto!!!! Great dessert!!!
