There are some FC plans that consider beans and letils nuetral. I know Harvey Diamond says it can be eaten with rice or alone with a protein, so in that case, you could do it.
I would day that the hot dog is a protein food and the beans are a carbohydrate food and so the two should not be combined.
This is the way that I feel about it..
But then this is what I hear

You could try it. If you feel tired or lethargic after it or it gives you heartburn or wind you know it was a bad combination. If you feel just fine then it suits your body.
well, I would be more worried about the hot dog than the beans, lol, but I did eat some red beans along side some chicken on Saturday and felt fine after, just no rice with the beans.
I just received a copy of 'Complete Food Combining' by Peter Thomson and I've found out that pinto beans can be combined with protein meals according to the Hay diet.
Think I owe you an apology for misleading you Twins0516.
Incidentally he says you shouldn't eat more than 1oz of them per person as they are very indigestible.

No problem here, but you did help, I missed the part about 1oz of them person, didn't know that.
I'd probably keep the beans with the carbs also ie. rice, tortillas. Mixing things up once in a while helps also so your body doesn't get too used to perfectly combined meals and has to work a little harder on occasion.
Beans are tricky being a high-protein/high-carb food! Kind of like nuts and coconuts, different authors place them in different categories.
Try using soy hot dogs like smart dogs or morning star and a can of Bush's vegetarian baked beans it is really good and you feel like you are eating regular hot dogs and beans plus you could eat the soy dog on a bun and you will be amazed how good they are. Also Veggie burgers in the freezer section just make sure they don't have any cheeze in them and you can have a burger. I am really energized to go back to Fit For Life now.
Thanks, that is great news...I will have to check them out. I already get the veggie burgers and crumbles...but now I will have to look that the dogs...
