I have never tried jerky, I don't know if we can get it over here. Though I have seen Kangaroo Jerky in tourist shops. I don't think I'll be trying that. I have tried kangaroo once, the flavour is too strong.

My question is do you have to have a dehydrator to make it, can it be made another way? I don't want to shell out for one just to try it out.

I've seen a few recipes around the net for oven dried jerky - try a search with Google - but I've never tried it myself. Rachel has a small dehydrator that she makes very good jerky in and there may be a few others here that have tried the oven method.
