Cool Veg Recipes with Nutritinal Values?

Hello!

I'm new to low-carb diets but I've been an ovo-lacto vegetarian since I was 15 (13 years now). I know there are sites for low-carb vegetarian recipes but does anyone know of a site or book that has a good number of vegetarian recipes with nutritional values? It vastly increases the control one can have over a diet, especially one focused on controlling carbs.

Hi Stephen,
I would recommend the Soy Zone by Dr. Sears. Also, I have started just going after soy recipes on various search engines. I type in tempeh recipes or cabbage recipes or whatever, and see where it takes me. I am amazed at how many recipes on the web have nutritional information listed. I have found I have to be careful with the processed veggie products because sometimes there are lots of carbs even though they are marketed as a protein source.

Hi, Stephen

I’ve only just gotten the Soy Zone (By Barry Sears) and haven’t read past the first few pages, but I would also recommend it. Sears gives specific names and suggestions of soy-based foods and products right upfront, which takes out a lot of the guesswork. If you can’t find them in your local market, you can find them online, and a lot of those sites do have the nutritional info.

I’ll be interested to see how you do with Atkins as a veggie. A lot of what I'm reading about Atkins seems to make sense, and I’ve been playing with my Zone proportions to see if I can do it in a more “Atkins-like” way and still feel good/lose weight. But I think a lot of the fat and protein requirements in Atkins rely on meat consumption. Good luck, and keep us posted!
