Oh i'm such a good low carber
I made it as far as the health food shop!! Got me sugar free lollies and something called a 'Silhouette' bar. No added sugar, no wheat, no dairy, no gluten and no caffeine. It looks very much like a bar of chocolate and it's 50g. Nutrition info per 100g, Energy 2458kj 599.6cal, protein 13.3g, carb 17.97g, fat 44.3g
It's a Carob bar something i have never tried before. One slight problem is that i HATE trying new things coz i scared they are gonna taste fowl, so at the moment it is untouched in the fridge.
While i pluck up the courage to try it has anyone here ever tried carob bar? I would really like your thoughts on it, at the moment i think it will be yuck because it just sounds too good to be true.

Ohhhh yes, I love carob! I used to work in a health food shop where the owner was happy for me to snack on whatever I liked... I liked them plenty!

Don't expect chocolate, mind you... it isn't chocolate. But it is a really tasty alternative.

(As an aside, that's the pancake and the muffin recipes all done... do I get a - carb free - cookie now?! )

PS... Only thing which makes me slightly suspicious is I'm fairly sure they always add sugar to carob. The bar itself might have no added sugar... doesn't mean the carob didn't have sugar in to start with. Might be worth checking?

I found out the hard way bought guacamole doesn't list sugar... just the tomatoes they added sugar to before starting. Thankfully its pitifully easy to make your own, so it didn't cause too bad a crisis!

I didn't think 9g carb for the whole bar was too bad, plus i don't plan to eat it all in one go, still too chicken to try it lol.

It does say on the packet it may look like chocolate but has it's own distinctive and delightful flavour, so i am prepared for it not to taste like choccy.

All it says about the sugar is 'no added sugar', but of course that does not mean it hasn't got any sugar in it. Ingredients list Hydrogenated vegetable oil (ewwww), carob powder, soya flour, emulsifier (Lecithin E322), flavouring (natural vanilla). And again on the discription says 'has the natural sweetness of carob'

Though i must admit since induction i haven't really looked at ingredients of food (apart from for wheat flour), i have just been counting the carbs. Oops now that doesn't sound like such a good LC now does it

didn,t realise it was only 9gs for the whole bar.i read it wrong.sorry,my puter screen very jerky tonight.i,ll watch out for them.i,m a bit sceptical with some bars, tried a one that said 3gs for the whole bar and it shot my bgs up like a rocket after only having 1/4.hidden at the back,i found it said 30c-gs,3 effective cgs.i reacted to the total amount.

Sorry Christine i forgot to answer your question on the SF lollies.
I get them from my local health food shop they are called Simpkins sugar free pops.
Now they have no nutrition info on the lollies and i can't remember what was printed on the box but they do conatin sugar alcohols.
And have a nice little warning on them 'not suitable for children under 3 years of age. May have a slight laxative effect, best eat one lolly a day'.

So i am on my second as my weight is still up, and i'm looking very much like i'm 6 months pregnant
