It's not the Ranchers that feed them antibiotics, it's the feedlots for the final fattening, right before slaughter.

Not drinking enough cold water. Drinking cold water burns calories as your body brings it up to normal body temperature. You don't drink enough cold water, therefore you are fat.

Too much variety. Cavemen didn't have Chinese buffets. Too much variety causes you to eat more, and therefore become fat.

Baldness. If you go bald, your body will divert the calories it used to expend in creating hair into fat cells instead, therefore you will slowly get fat. That's why there's so many bald fat people.

Feminism. Women used to cook wholesome meals for their families once upon a time, but now with women working outside the home, families rely more and more on industrial processed and takeout foods. Therefore people get fat, kids especially.

Happy Meals. Happy meals come with a toy. Kids love toys. Therefore kids eat happy meals and get fat.

Television. People, especially kids watch too much television, therefore they don't get enough exercise and therefore get fat.

TV + Snacking. People snack too much while watching TV, therefore they get fat.

Seth Robert's Shangri la diet theory adds in that foods we eat on a regular basis, we become conditioned to over-consume, because we learn to associate the flavours with the calories. So there's also to little variety, he claimed eating unfamiliar desserts would cause weight loss.

Taubes wrote about a time when doctors would prescribe bed rest to obese patients along with diet. Too little exercise, there's the other suggestion, exercise stimulates appetite and you get fat.

Fat Friends. If your friends are fat, you are more likely to be fat.

Not Chewing Gum. Chewing gum burns calories and makes your brain think you've eaten. You don't chew gum, therefore you are fat.

Dreamfields Pasta. You too were scammed by Dreamfields pasta, therefore you are fat because of all those carbs!

Marriage. People get fat after they get married, therefore marriage causes obesity.

There's an old one looking at respiratory quotient. Sort of a measure of oxygen consumption vs. energy production, a higher quotient means a higher carbohydrate metabolism, a lower quotient a higher fat metabolism. People with higher respiratory quotients than the "food quotient" they eat, that is what their respiratory quotient would be if they just burned what they ate and were in maintenance, will accumulate fat.

This can be put in terms of low carb --of course if you eat low carb high fat, you're forced to a lower respiratory quotient, more likely to match RQ to FQ. During the low fat heyday, lipophobic researchers looked at the mismatch as an inability to match RQ to FQ, or an inability to increase oxidation fat in response to an increase in dietary fat. There's some truth in this--increase carbohydrate in the diet, and carbohydrate oxidation will go up, because there's a limited capacity for carb storage. The same won't happen with fat unless you take something else (guess what?) out of the diet at the same time. It all comes down to "fat burns in the absence of carbohydrate."

Have we listed "Fat burns in the flame of carbohydrate" as a cause of obesity (when carbs are lacking) yet?

Not Breathing Enough. If you just breathed more the extra oxygen would burn more calories, and you wouldn't get fat. Breaths in, calories out. Count your breaths like you count your calories.

Actually digesting your food. Sure you can underchew peanuts and almonds in hopes that you'll later pass a nutty stool. I eat food in hopes that it will nourish me.
