Hi there YoCheerioh!
You posted this reply to me:

If your symptoms become worse, are gaining weight for unkown reasons and you are unable to function normally, talk to your dr about bio-identical hormones. I've been on them for one cycle now and feel so much better. I'm told that once I am hormonally stablized, I should be able to drop the weight. My peri-menopause started early. I think I was 41 or so. I noticed a change in my mind and body. I started gaining weight and had loads of fuzzy thinking. My periods were two weeks long, (but I didn't make the connection). I blamed every symptom on low blood sugar. (I'm a reactive hypoglycemic) so when my dr said it was peri-menopause, I didn't believe him. I went for a few more years dealing with it until the anxiety/panic attacks, dizziness and all the other symptoms became unbearable. I finally went on birth control for the hormones. It made me gain 20 lbs! I traded in one set of symptons for another. Yuck. After a year on that, I went to a compounding Pharmacy and talked to a hormone specialist. He made hormone cream specifically for me and I'm doing so much better. If you ever have a question, please ask. I would hate to see another woman suffer as I did. Good luck to you and let me know how things are going.

Thanks a million times for the information and offers of more information on bio-identical hormones, should I need it.
I really hope that things do NOT get worse: the dizziness is not as bad as a few weeks ago, when it lasted well into the afternoon and I had to cancel a teaching appointment that I had promised to keep earlier the very same day. At the moment it is only slightly bothersome and wears off by about 9-10am completely. My period came sooner than normal, but, thankfully, was short as well, so I can live with that, too.
I am hoping that my LC diet, along with my main supplements (Vitamin D3, magnesium, CoQ10, occasional zinc and selenium, plus Wobenzym, which contains proteolytic enzymes) will help keep me stable for the next few years. I have just ordered some probiotics and digestive enzymes to try out, too. I'll be curious to see what effect they have - or
don't have!!!
It is very good to know that there is somebody out there who I can consult if needs be. I read a post on another forum about someone going through horrific perimenopause symptoms at age 42 and felt quite relieved that I have been spared this - so far... It did sound as if some vitamin/mineral deficiencies could have been involved in her problems, too, so I shall carry on taking my supplements and eating well. I also try to exercise twice a week although the dizziness has stopped me from time to time lately.
Take care and many many thanks for your kind message,
amanda
