Default Making the Weight Gain Worth It

I put this hear, not because I _wish_ this to be controversial, but because I know it will be.

Just enjoyed my first trip to Europe (specifically Split, Croatia). Had a great time, and had some delicious deserts, wine, beer (overnight in Germany, had to have a beer).

For the most part I ate to plan - meat/fish and veggies. No potatoes, rice, pasta, pancakes.

The result was a 1 pound gain for the week. Not bad. Well worth it. More on this on my blog www.lessoflee.com

The gist is -- if one is going to indulge, make it worthwhile. Enjoy, take the gain, and move on.

More power to ya...I couldn't do that....I'm like the guy at the AA meeting and you just said that you can knock back a beer or two on vacation but be on the wagon the rest of the time...

Not me.

Really?

A 1lb gain and you feel the need to start a War Zone thread?! Pulllease!!

When you get to your goal and are maintaining, if you do maintain, you'll see just how silly this is.

Interesting observations Leebase. I think that when we take holidays sometimes we rev up our metabolism. Whether it's the extra calories, carbs or just the variety, a diet holiday could be just what we need.

I had a two week break in China, starting each day with a cooked breakfast in the hotel, followed by lunch and dinner at restaurants. Some day's I was so stuffed I couldn't move, but I lost 14lbs!!!!

I think the concept is realistic...for you.

A lot of people cannot just 'enjoy and move on' like some may be able to.

It's a slippery slope for many and there can be a lot of fear and denial that rears it's ugly head when some of us think with that mindset. It just creates the 'beginning-of-the-end' of compliance for them...

I can indulge with a bit of potato or rice every now and then (at 2 years of commitment to this lifestyle after SEVERAL attempts thru the years), but a lot of people find that blood sugar/insulin rush, after abstaining, too much to recover from.

Everyone is unique and needs to be honest with themselves about what they can handle.

It's a lifetime battle for the majority, IMHO.
Just sayin'

ETA...Happy you had a great vacay!!
