You need to look a lot further than a quack site like his to get at the truth. That is, assuming you are interested in the truth. Which I really hope you are.

Now, have you bothered to look at the links I posted?

Yes I did. Never mind the PCRM agenda, where is Dr. Greger wrong with his contention about Neu5Gc causes heart disease?

Ohhh, here we go again. This whole red meat/Neu5Gc stuff has been discussed here many times before. And you know what? All the stuff about Neu5Gc comes up with some nebulous possibilities - nothing concrete.

Now, since you really don't seem to want to learn about actual facts, ie that red meat is actually good for a body, I am not going to bother trying any more.

Over and out.

All I know is that Atkins has performed miracles for me. Before I started it nearly ten years ago, I was fat, had arthritus, IBS, ezcema and pre diabetes, I looked and felt like an old lady, I waddled when I walked, it took me ages to get out of a chair, I puffed, panted and groaned when I waddled about, I wore boring "hide me" tents as clothes and felt constantly tired and achey - what a waste of the so called best years of my life (my 20s and 30s). Within a week or two of starting atkins, it ALL went.

Today I'm cruising towards 50 (I'm nearly 49 eeeekkk!!!) and I dont look it (apart from the wrinkles), act it or feel it - much to the horror of my kids. I wear the clothes I want, I can run, dance, I'm alert, fit and can do anything I want to. If thats bad for my health then BRING IT ON!

My biggest sorrow is that I believed nonsense about the Atkins diet all those years ago and it took me so long to try it! I hate to think of how many other people listen to this anti atkins/low carb advice and are unhappy, fat and old before their time. Its shameful!!! FFS at least try it - what is there to lose???!

As for all of this red meat twaddle??? dont eat it if it bothers you - theres plenty of other stuff you can eat - but theres no point in examining it meticulously to the point of stupidity - lifes too short!

I know this is OT, but the first time I saw that website name I thought it was some kind of Atkins porn site. (Think about it for a minute...)

It took me a moment or two to work out what FFS meant. I might be using it a lot in future. Especially regarding healthywholegrains and so-called experts with anti-low carb bias issues and agendas. Seriously, FFS!

I'm not a vegan but I'm not prepared to knock the vegans, either. There are CR people doing vegan diets and I suspect some or many of them are doing it because you get the most nutritious bang for your buck from veggies in terms of keeping calories low. There are also studies indicating that cooking anything at high temps, like oil and meat, can cause problems.

It's probably possible to be healthy on a vegan diet. The animal rights thing to me is a separate issue.

In the book "Wheat Belly," Dr. William Davis proves through peer reviewed studies that eating even organic whole grain bread is like eating two tbls of sugar. Your body doesn't know the difference between organic whole grain or Wonder bread, and, in fact, Wonder bread has less of an insulin spike than that of whole grains. Even a snickers bar rates lower on the glycemic index than bread. Red meat is substantially healthier than wheat products, particularly if you are buying free range beef.
