Nope. I just followed the plan and stopped eating like a maniac. I wasn't exercising during this time due to a severe back problem that required spinal surgery on February 2....which was just before I hit my goal of 60lbs. I've only just now (well, probably 4 weeks ago) started exercising regularly. 2 weeks after surgery, in my second physical therapy appointment, the PT tore my hamstring stretching me too far...so that had be down and out for about 7 weeks from that point.

I started out just walking, then when my hamstring was feeling better (although not 100%...still isn't), I began the eliptical again. From there, I started working out with a personal trainer on Saturdays doing upper body work. I'm not trying to get in with him twice a week.

The best advice I can give is to follow the plan as it is written. I stayed on induction longer than 2 weeks, but I have since worked my way through most of the carb ladder and have a good understanding on what causes me issues and what does not. I still eat around induction levels MOST days. If it's higher, it's because I have an apple on some mornings. They don't cause me issues. Induction level carbs are just a level that suit me well, and keep me on track. I still think I can widdle off some more weight, and that's what I'm continuing to work on. I have no real goal in mind other than to lower my body fat percentage to within normal range. Wherever that takes me, it takes me.

Chart out all your food using whatever method works. I really liked My PLAN. I was really solid with that for most of my losses, but after a while, you know what certain foods have and I got into a schedule where I would have certain things on certain days, and I really didn't need to watch it super closely anymore to figure out how many carbs I was having.

I liked to weigh every day, and I still do. Watching the scale was critical while I was working through the rungs. I used how certain foods made me feel, along with the numbers on the scale, to determine what was ok and what I should stay away from. I liked to see how my choices effected the scale, and it was a useful tool for me. It also made it very easy to see that nice downward trend when I was having a slow period.

You'll get to where you want to be, don't worry I lost a lot really quickly. It's taken me 9 weeks to get from that 60lb mark to 70. It doesn't always come off very quickly. I'm past my goal now, but I'm still riding the wave and continuing to lose slowly.

Now, for my next trick, I'm off to make peanut butter protein bars

Brilliant, well done! Do you mind sharing what a typical eating day is like for you on Atkins? Did you stay on the first stage the whole time? You look fabulous!

There are some samples here and in my journal pages for people who have asked questions along the way. If you take a look through this post and that and still have more questions, please feel free to ask.

I didn't do anything special, just ate things that I enjoyed that were also on plan. It's really very, very easy. Also, check out the recipe sections here - there are so many great ideas and things to try...there really is something for everyone there!
