Default Sugar Free Creme Savers

Hi, just searching for some "safe" junk food and saw a couple earlier posts on these.

Am I reading the label for the Sugar Free Creme Savers correctly? 13 grams total carbs (5 pieces) and 13 grams sugar alcohol = 0 net carbs. Most important for me, no Malitol (made the mistake of trying a low carb bar with that stuff).

Are there other gems (Malitol free) like these that people care to share?

What I really want to find is low carb popcorn!!!

The only "safe" junk food is homemade and I'm not sure about even that!

There may be no maltitol (not malitol) in 'em, but there's some other sugar alcohol, and it could have similar effects.

There are those (me among them) that do NOT consider it safe or effective practice to deduct sugar alchols in their entirety but deduct based on their effective carb count calculated from calories. You might consider that... then your 'junk' food would be sort of half safe

Thanks, I'm new to this. I read up on "Polyols" (sugar replacers) today though!

I bought these at SHOPRITE last week...they taste very much like the originals (sugar laden). I count 1 carb for 4 pieces despite it being "0" (once you deduct sugar alcohols). I do not have the "laxative affect" unless I eat more than 3 pieces....then the gassyness starts. So if you are sugar-alcohol sensitive than you should avoid eating any of these or any other sugar-alcohol foods.

I purchased a few kinds to experiment

- Sugar Free Creme Savers Hard Candy, Chocolate & Caramel Creme (Isomalt)
- Sugar Free LiteSavers Delites Hard Candy, Butter Toffee (Isomalt)
- Hershey's Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Candy (Lactital)

Serving size is 5 for each of them and I had 2 of each with no noticeable effects. They are added to my occassional sweet list along with the great Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Recipe posted here:
