Default oxtail recipes

I've been able to find these locally, I love them. Also noticed there's a brand carried at some larger supermarkets now (can't think of name at moment) so it seems they're getting more popular. But they seem pricey at the store per pound, the ones from local butcher are usually a nice budget buy.

I used to make a slow-simmering stew where the oxtail meat would be falling off the bone, very good. Then recently tried roasting them and they came out OK but the amount of gristle and small bones makes them a little hard to eat. I think I'll try next with garam masala spice in a stew again. Anyone else have ideas?
