Default Carbier paleo foods?

I discovered recently on vacation away from my normal eating habits that my body is happier on many fewer calories if I eat a small portion of starchy carbs. I'm confused by this but my weight has been stalled for ages and I'm willing to give it a shot.

Now on vacation I strayed far from The Truth and was eating grains and peanuts. I believe this to be a Bad Thing.

So, what are the higher carb, starchier, paleo choices?

Fruit is not a good choice for me. Its too sweet.

Yams, or rather sweet potatoes, and winter squashes are what I would use.

It may not be paleo but North American indians who ate nothing but game, fowl, fish also ate wild rice.

Plantains are tasty. Technically a fruit, but not sweet at all, and very starchy.

I'd probably be eating some black beans... I know, not paleo but they're good.

Plaintains is a great idea!
