Default Low Carb Sushi?

Would anyone have a recipe for low carb sushi? I've been so hungry for this treat lately. I really love veggie sushi...not raw fish...sorry no sashimi. Help anyone? Tks, Dee

They say cravings during pregnancy are just your bodies way of telling you if there are certain nutrients you are low on. Fish are packed with all kinds of nutrients, so it's possible that there is something your body is missing, so sending the eat fish message.

Just in case you're wondering, I made the sushi....well it was emmm, ahh, hmmmm....not quite as satisfying as the real thing, but if you really are dying for sushi...it helps. The cauliflower in the recipe does not have the chewy consistancy that rice does and does not become "sticky" enough to hold together well when you cut the sushi...but with soy sauce and wasabi, it satisfies.

LC SUSHI

Grate 1 small head cauliflower add 2T water and microwave 6 minutes covered with plastic wrap. Cool. Sprinkle with rice vineger, 2 pkt splenda and sprinkle of xanthum gum to a "sticky" consistency.
Cut matchstick size avacado, carrot, cucumber or desired veggies and fish
Toast nori seaweed. I did this by lightly swiping through a gas flame on my stove.
Assemble sushi: In the middle of the nori sheet, layer "rice" veggies, fish, pickled ginger.
Use a sushi mat (easiest) to roll sushi or roll on wax paper making a tight roll.
Cut roll into 1 inch slices.
Serve with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger. Enjoy.
Makes enough "rice to fill 4-5 sheets of Nori.

I posted this on another sushi thread. I love sushi. I adore susuhi in everyway shape and form.

So when I saw this similar recipe I thought yuuuummmmm. But yum soon turned into YUCK!!!! This is just gross and did nothing but totally disappointment.

Don't get me wrong--I love mashed cauliflower, roasted cauliflower, cauliflower gratin. But this is NASTY.

I know you'll want to try it anyway, but don't say I didn't warn you!!

Me, I just love it without the rice. I make my rolls with the tuna and the nori and the avocado and my special mayonnaise, etc., and all the flavours are there for me. Just no rice. My absolute fave is a variation of the negitori hand roll, I add a slice of avocado and sesame seeds.

I guess it's really sashimi with all the sushi flavours and ingredients. Yum!

I too tried the cauliflower sushi and couldnt tolerate it. I do like sashimi and so that is usually what I eat. There was this one time... I was a little naughty. I was preparing rolls for guests and I made a roll for myself with 1T rice. 1T cooked rice has 6.5g carbs and that was enough for me to endulge. It was a really really skimpy roll but it was totally enough to satisfy me.
