So, I got my test results back - low on T3, high on RT3.. high cortisol, low Vitamin D, low progesterone.
I had my doctor's appointment today.
Just an update. I met with the doctor today.
I saw Roger Garcia - Bodylogics, Columbus, OH. I have to say.. I've never had a doctor spend so much time with me - A little over an hour asking me questions.. going over my test results. *HE* weighed me.. took my bp and stuff.. himself! I've never had this happen.
I found out I do have a thyroid issue, but it's different than I thought. I am basically converting T4 to rT3, which means, my thyroid is making all the T4 it needs, but due to stress it isn't converting it to the right hormone I need to make my metabolism run correctly or give me energy.
My adrenals are very fatigued which is causing the above to happen and my progesterone is low. My inflammation is very, very high.
So, I get adrenal supplements and progesterone and a supplement to help with the inflammation. I need to take 5,000 units of Vitamin D3 too.
He thinks this will make my body begin to convert the T4 into regular T3 again. If not, then we might add some T3 later, but not until I have a handle on the adrenal fatigue. If we add T3 now, he says it could make the adrenal fatigue much worse than it is.
I'm so glad I got to see a doctor who didn't just pat me on the head and say it's all part of getting older! How refreshing this was.
I took one of the adrenal supplements with dinner.. whew.. I think I need to take it earlier.. I"m so awake now. At least I can sleep in tomorrow.. if the neighbor's dog doesn't wake me up.
