Okay, so I am sure this has been talked about before but I'm a gonna bring it up again. Every time I get on the high protein way of eating I notice after a week that my bowel movements become, well, less frequent. Now it isn't constipation, there is no bloating, no aching. I just don't go as often. I have two movements a week, that is it. Am I the only person whose body is affected in this manner?

That's why low carb is high fat. Not high protein. Because some of the protein can actually turn to glucose in the body. ... when you put butter, and oil, and like that with meat... it helps.

My clients are all regular and so am I as long as we take our little magnesium pill every night (capsule)... look for magnesium, and get 200mg. and then start with one..if that doesn't 'do it' then up it... I take about 500mg. NOW.. but I've been doing this since 2000.

Don't forget vegetables and salads.
I love David pumpkin seeds which is the food highest in Magnesium. 1/2 a personal size bag is only 1g carb.

I'm ketogenic... not many veggies or salads in my way of eating... and magnesium works.

Do you see the connection to what you wrote on your post in your Intro thread?
A "well-formulated" LC diet, is only Moderate in Protein, high in Fat, and even the 20g programs include some vegetables for this very reason. It is not a High Protein diet.
I was going to comment over on your Intro you may have bowel issues with "your own plan" (also called the Chet Atkins diet )
but you already know that

This might be a side effect of appetite suppression, rather than of a low carb diet as such. The less I eat, the less frequently I go. I don't worry about it, I eat low carb veggies because I like them, not because I like to do number two every day, but they do increase the frequency as well.

You'll find that as you go forward with this new way of eating, you'll adapt to how it works best for you. As others have said, too much protein can cause your body to convert it to glucose through a process called gluconeogenesis. That will stall your weight loss.

Transitioning to a higher fat, moderate protein, and very low carb worked very well for me. I, too, had symptoms similar to what you describe in the beginning, particularly after eliminating all grains. It reconciled itself to total regularity eventually. Good luck!

Seems a 3 egg with cheese omelet cooked in butter is pretty fattening?

I always evacuate my bowels with less frequency and volume [eew!] when I am on low carb. I presume that it has something to do the massive reduction in calories when converting from a repetitive junk food grazer & competitive eater to a small portion fat & protein consumer. I also presume that the reduction in intake and increase in the quality of the nutrients ingested correlates to more consumption of nutrients within my body.

This is noticeable in pets too. Switching them from a common commercial brand of pet food to a higher quality(lower carb higher protein/fat)food will yield less frequent, smaller, firmer feces because more of the food is being digested.

Well, I left work after 5 hours and am going to the doctors office in a little bit. Stomach is hurting, had two movements this morning, but was first in days. Am taking a fiber supplement. Not sure what is going on with me, never had this issue before. Still losing weigh though.
