Default gravy anyone?

I miss gravy. Is there some way to make nice, thick gravy that is paleo or primal friendly?

Tons of gravy recipes and methods

I guess you can decide whether you want to thicken it using a gum like xanthan, agar, etc, or whether to thicken with pureed veggies. Thickening with egg yolk works too, but it cooks if you reheat it.

Some people say gelatin but gelatin melts and only is thick when it is cool, it does lend a smooth mouth-feel though.

Depending on what sort of paleo you're doing, you might use potato or yam to thicken, or potato starch.

Or possibly a coconut milk/cream sauce? Good for chicken dishes.
A pureed onion recipe: http://nomnompaleo.com/post/1634346...rb-gravy-recipe

Thanks! I'll try and find some gum stuff and give that a go and see if it's easy and quick (I'm so over cooking by the time something is ready to serve up). I suggested to my family I use psyllium husk powder, but they all kind of gagged at that suggestion

I was going to chime in with onion, but it's already been done. Reduction works well, too.

A Paleo Herbal gravy is in order. It is really simple to do. Instead of Xanthan gum, try using pureed onions and garlic to thicken your gravy sauce.
