Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to the primal eating lifestyle Starting out I'm not going super strict because I know myself and if I don't ease into this I'll end up not sticking with it. So, for the next few days I'm going to work on making healthier food choices, keeping my carbs between 50 and 80 grams a day, cutting back on diet soda, and starting to walk everyday. I hope to make more changes each week, as I figure everything out. I'm following Mark Sisson's book, The Primal Blueprint, as well as his website The Daily Apple.

Just wanted to say hi, can't wait to meet others who eat primal

Welcome!
I eased into it too. Started out on Atkins and the more stuff I read the stricter I got till I was Primal. I do still eat butter so I'm not totally paleo
I also eat a lot less carbs than Mark recommends.
Glad to have you here

Thanks for the welcome! I'm going to play around with the carb number-my starting point is going to be to aim for 50-80 a day, but I may adjust that as I see what happens with my weight loss. I also need to work on switching to healthy carbs, instead of breads, pasta etc.

I have been reading the daily apple on line site and think it is great science. I went low carb in 2009 and never looked back. I had done Atkins before but foolishly let the principles slide. I have maintained a healthy weight since late 2009, so it is doable. Some of the refining I'd like to do primal wise is eat more game and free range meats. It's going to take some financial compromises elsewhere, but I will be curious at the outcomes. one thing that may not be a go for me if the carb amount allowed primal 50-100 g carbs. I get into a really scary place of I go much over 50 on any given day....and I exercise. In the 30s works best with me. So you are on the right track with being flexible and adjusting carbs. I also cannot drink much diet soda-maybe one every 3-4 months- or artificial sweetner....cravings go hay wire. Good luck to you!

I agree with others that Primal Blueprint and Mark's website is the most accessible and least scary to help you work into a Primal Lifestyle. Taking a wild guess that you are a Mom with 3 kids, you might also enjoy Paleo Mom:
http://www.thepaleomom
She and another mom who wrote a book for kids have a new podcast...very chatty and practical, called Paleo View. They just did a good two part series on how to start going Paleo. The Paleo world is new tech oriented..tons of podcasts, recipe websites, etc. I listen to podcasts while walking or doing housework and pick up great tips to keep me motivated. Read back in this forum for more suggestions...and Welcome!

I'm eating primal as well Although I'm not as strict yet, it is hard to source organic food around these parts. The nearest local farm that rears organic grass fed meat is 2 hours away from here in the car so I'm going to have to go with the delivery route. Also thanks for those links Jey, I'm going to check them out as well.
