Default I stumbled on something helpful

I just read something in a post from 2008 which gave reasons why the scales may not be moving. It has given me more heart to continue. I can't reproduce the whole thing here but it is about glycogen stores and water balance. Here's hoping !

It is in the BEST OF sub-forum, http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=94 a good place to wander about reading subjects of interest.

Copy and paste the URL should work to create the link.

I learned over the many times of working with Atkins that the scale can be ones' worst enemy. So given this fact, at least in my case, I put my scale away and only take it out once a week, or bi-weekly. My measuring tape is much more effective and gives me great hope to continue.

I would have been nice to read what you had found regarding glycogen stores and water balance. Never heard of this theory before.

Im glad you are not quitting.

Our body does need time to change and adjust. the key is dont quit!!!

I weight every day and take an AVerage for the week. I have years of numbers.

Only by following DANDR did I reach the 180's---- and plan to get there AGAIN.

If I stop getting way laid. lol

Learn to look at and interpret the number dispassionately and non-personally. If you are interested in seeing wild scale movements up and down you can look at my continuing log.

I measure in the morning. Jot it down, go ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and move on. I get another chance to do it tomorrow. Ups and Downs short term (by short term I mean MONTHS) are not worth getting underware in a bunch. It's especially useful, at least to me, not to try to make too many correlations between the number today and what happened yesterday. Too many variables and as far as how much FAT was gained or lost, almost meaningless.

have a laugh at this and be heartened leicester!
