Default "SKYLINE" Cincinnati Chili Con Carne




LC “Skyline” Chili Con Carne (Cincinnati Style)



3 lbs. lean hamburger, (don't brown)
2 qts. water
1 lg. onions, chopped (chopped fine) *15.16g
29 oz. can tomato sauce *63.8g

1/2 tsp. allspice *.7g
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder *1.1g
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
4 tbsp. chili powder or more *16.4g
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tsp. cinnamon *4g
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce *12g
1/2 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate squares *4g

(thats right folks chocolate in chili balances the acid out in the tomatoes )
1 1/2 tsp. salt
4 drops Tabasco sauce


In an 8 quart kettle combine hamburger(stir into water with fork ), water and onions; simmer for 30 minutes. Then add remaining ingredients. Simmer for 2 or 3 hours, uncovered. *not included in carb counts*Serve with steamed Low Carb buns, hot dogs, onions, Mustard and cheese or serve over Zucchini Fries, onions, bacon bits, jalapeno slices and cheese.

Makes 6 pints. (96 oz.) Total Recipe*117.16g

1.22g per 1oz. OR 9.76g per Cup

Wooohoooo!!! I'm soooo excited to see this!!! I am originally from Middletown, OH. and now I live in New Orleans. I soooo miss Skyline chili and Goldstar chili. I buy a few cans when we go home to visit but it never lasts until the next visit!! Thanks so much for posting!
