Lightbulb Atkins Products Opinions

I thought it would be nice to start a thread to review the Atkins products - what is good and what is . So I'll start it with what I have tried from Atkins:

Atkins Bread Mix Country White : Excellent. If you are missing bread this works. I made it in my bread machine and it came out perfect. Slapped some butter on a slice and I was in Hog Heaven!! 3 net carbs for 1/2 inch slice.
Atkins Pancake Mix - new formula : Not bad. It covered my cravings of pancakes (I was a big pancake junkie before I stared low carbing). They were slightly dry and gritty - like buckwheat pancackes - but slathered w/butter and my no carb, no sugar Walden Farms pancake syrup and they were ok. You can get quite a bit of breakfasts out of the package. 3 net carbs for a pancake.
Atkins Advantage Bar Chocolate PB: Only one I like. Good for a snack every now and then at work if I get a little hungry. 2 net carbs per bar.
Atkins Raspberry Syrup : I use this as a splash in my decaf ice tea instead a packet of splenda now and then for a little flavor. Pretty sweet though, so a little goes a long way! 0 carbs per serving.
Atkins Teriyaki Sauce & Marinade : Good on chicken. 1 net g per 1 tblsp.

I have purchased the Atkins baking mix, banana nut muffin mix, and choc choc chip muffin mix but have not tried them yet. Will let you know my opinion on them as soon as I do!!

I would love to here from anyone who has tried any other products or have an opionion on the ones I listed. I am afraid to try anything until I get a concensus on how they are!! Thanks and Happy Low Carbing everyone!

Atkins Brownie Mix:

Pretty good. However, I had a hard time convincing myself I could only have one. In addition, these have about 5 g of carb and shouldn't be eaten on induction.

Atkins Blueberry Muffen Mix
Okay w/ butter on them. However, I wasn't impressed. 3g ?

Atkin's Steak Sauce
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this sauce. I believe it is less than 1 g of carb. It is soooooo good. I have been stocking up on it so I don't run out.

Atkin's Barbecue Sauce
Not a bad bbq substitute! I have had it on Chicken and Lil' Smokies. Less than 1g?

Atkin's Teriyaki Sauce
Good Substitute. Have just tasted it, haven't cooked with it yet. Less than 1 g?

Atkin's Avantage Bars
I have tried most of the flavors and like Peanut Butter the best. 2 g of carbs

Atkin's Endulge Candy

Peanut Butter cups, okay
Chocolate bar, good substitute for chocolate craving.
Have not caused me to stall.

Atkin's Ice Cream
Vanilla: Awesome! 4 g
Chocolate: Okay. 4 g

Atkin's Shake
Like all flavors okay, although they can sometimes taste a little "can" like.

Atkin's Maple Syrup
Tastes just like Maple syrup, but has a watery consistency. Have decided dipping is better than pouring it on.

Atkin's Breakfast Cinnamon Bars
Delicious!! 2g

A few years ago, I tried Atkin's bake mix and HATED it. However, it could have changed since I tried it.

ATKINS MUFFIN MIXESold type)
Blueberry- not bad w/ lots of butter 3g net carbs
Banana Nut- good w/ butter 2g net carbs
Lemon Poppy- good w/ or w/o butter 3g net carbs (my favorite)
Won't be trying the new muffin mixes too many carbs!
ATKINS ADVANTAGE BARS:
Chocolate Peanut Butter- really good, by far my favorite 2g
Cookies & Cream- not too bad, but probably wouldn't buy them again 2g
Almond Brownie- disgustingly foul, couldn't even eat it 2g
Chocolate Decadence- not bad, but very very rich 2g
A meal replacement for me not a snack, never stalled because of them.
ATKINS ENDULGE:
Peanut Butter Cups- really good, but cheaper to make my own
Chocolate- good, tastes like semi-sweet choc chips
Chocolate Crunch- good, like a Nestle Crunch almost
Caramel Nut Chew- not bad, but funky texture to the "caramel"
An occasional sweet treat, don't stall me & not affected by the malitol.
ATKINS SHAKES:
Vanilla RTD- really good 1g
Chocolate Delight RTD- good 1g
Strawberry RTD- not bad but chemical tasting 2g
Haven't tried the mix shakes, nervous they won't taste as good.

I believe that only the blueberry and the corn muffins changed their forumlas and increased the ECC. The banana, lemon, and orange-cranberry Atkins muffins still have only 2 or 3 ECC. Lemon Poppy is my favorite, too.

Thumbs up I tried a new Atkins Products

I tried the new candy called Atkins Wafers. They remind me of the Kit Kat. The flavor that I tasted was the peanut butter one. They have a chocolate one and a mint one. One more, but I can't remember.

They are on sale at GNC from 19.99 to 14.99. If you have a Gold card you get another 2.00 off!

I promise you, you won't be disappointed! 4 Effective carbs for a pack (two wafers). Nice size too.

Default Forgot to include this......

I'm sorry, their are 15 in a box or you can buy them individually for 1.49. Great buy if you buy the box of 15. Hope that helps

Marcia

P.S. I also have tried the bread from the health food store White and Rye. These loaves are like regular sliced bread. Wonderful!!!!!!!!!

I've tried the Crunchers and really enjoy them also. My daughter says they are too hard!!!! She's 11. I love all three flavors!

Default ATKINS HAMBURGER BUNS

I bought and made the "hamburger buns".

1. supposed to get 12 3 inch buns.... No way. I could only get 8 .

2. Taste bad... Like making cream puff dough with sawdust.

3. On a possitive note: The mustard didnt get on my fingers

4. expensive.

I ended up grinding up the Buns and using them a filler in meatloaf. (not bad)

Hiya..

I just did a post on the shake mixes, so I'll leave that out but here we go:

**Atkins BBQ Sauce: LOVE THIS! It's better than "normal" bbq sauce! MM!! Love it, love it, LOVE IT!

**Advantage Bars: I really like these, too. I never thought I'd like something with those kind of textures... but damn! The Berry Cheesecake and the Almond Brownie are close in the running for first place.

**The shake mixes: See my recent thread posted to Low-Carb Products forum on this site.

**Atkins Steak Sauce: Just bought it today, just ordered a steak! Hoping it is as wonderful as the BBQ sauce!

Hi there,

My husband is a grocery manager at a large health food store around here and he told me Atkins is having HUGE distribution problems right now. It shows! Every store in town is halfway out of stock on just about every damned Advantage bar.

My hubby says that their distributors have spread the word that the demand is higher than what they can supply. Go figure!

Default Atkins bake mix

I made some fried chicken w/the Atkins Bake Mix the other day & it turned out pretty good. I followed the recipe on the Atkins site. Yesterday I made Chocolate Peanut Butter cookies from a recipe on the Atkins site also (it requires Atkins Bake Mix as well to make). The dought prior to baking was pretty good but when I cooked them they were ! Won't be making those again!
I tried the Chocolate Shake mix this morning (canister) and it was pretty good. I was suprised how thick it was! Tommorrow morning I will try the vanilla.

Thanks, NANCI B, for the post on the hamburger buns! I was going to try them , but you changed my mind!!

Default vanilla shake mix

I had the vanilla shake mix this morning and it was pretty good. I had to use more water than 8 oz though, because it had the consistancy of paste the first time! It smelled like vanilla cake mix too!! Odd!

Default Low Carb Pasta

When I have needed a carb, I had been using whole grain whole wheat pasta. I thought I would try Atkins low carb pasta and bought some. I made a whole batch, had a few bites, and tossed the whole thing out. I made them aldente just like the instructions called for but hated it. I will stick with the whole grain whole wheat next time I get an urge.

I also tried some low carb bread at the health food store ( NOT Atkins) and it was baddd . The slices were about the sizeof a deck of cards but thinner It was only okay plain. I like Ezekiel whole grain bread if I must indulge.

The La Tortilla Factory tortillas were surprisingly good.

Love russel stover sf mint patties and raspberry candy as well as Atkins chocolate endulge bar.

I use a lot of suzanne summers products which are also low fat and very tasty: Ice cream, taco & chili mix, salsa, salad dressing, mousse mix, meat rubs and marinaides etc. I highly recommend these products.
