Default Magnesium citrate dosing

I purchased a bottle of magnesium citrate, hoping it will help with migraines and anxiety. The bottle says to take 2 softgels with a meal, but they're huge and I'm not very good at swallowing pills to start with.

Does the dose need to be at the same time for benefit, or can it be taken at different points in the day?

As a follow-on, does anyone have experience with taking magnesium for these reasons, and, if so, what dose did you find most effective?

I take magnesium citrate right after dinner. While I'd like to attribute my huge reductions in migraine frequency to the magnesium, I suspect the more significant factor was my adopting LCHF.

And yes, they are huge pills

I believe magnesium citrate is usually used for constipation.

This was an interesting article about magnesium: http://www.ancient-minerals.com/mag...ces/absorption/

You might try magnesium oil or use epsom salts in a bath instead.

Yesterday I bought a magnesium supplement to help with the constipation, but it doesn't say magnesium citrate, it just says magnesium 500mg high potency.... Ugh, did I buy the wrong thing? Does anybody know the difference?
