Hi I am Joann and today is day 1 for me but it's only 5 pm. I am a young 76 yr
old and live in Mesa AZ and definite need all the support and ideas I can get.
Support to get me though week 1 and ideas to help me get into ketosis.
The thing I will miss most is Mc Donald's Frappe--any help is appreciated.
I love the McD mocha Frappe...it was the go to reward for my son and I after a backpacking adventure.
But dropping the extra weight that slows you down and makes things you enjoy to do harder is even better than the McD Frappe:-)
Good luck and god speed!
Well I made it through 1 day and thanks for your reply.
I could use a daily boot to keep with it. Once I have made it through 2 weeks and into ketosis I think I will be encouraged.
Still trying to learn to use the Forum and figure out who is posting.

Hi Joann. I'm Meg, 72, live in Phoenix. You came to the right place. The first few days will be rough, and then it gets better, and then you stop missing the sugar rushes. After many years of low-carbing, I still enjoy the sweet taste, and there are lots of ways to get that. Start a journal, if you like, so people can get to know you.
Welcome to the forum.
I think that you will find lot's of support here on your journey.
It can be tough in the beginning...but give it a chance.
The sooner you realize the benefits of eating the low carb lifestyle it will get easier.
Remember to think positive on what you "can eat" rather than what you "can't eat".
Bread, chips, sugar, buns, ketchup, bbq sauce etc are not healthy things a person's body needs.
You can have vegetables...just avoid the root vegetables.
You can have meat.
There are bazillion recipes out there to create low carb recipes.
Some find that dairy, cheese, etc are ok and some find they need to eliminate them.
Some do intermittent fasting others do not.
So much to learn.
Just listen to your body and you will do great.
