Just found out I have Candida
Hi all! I've been suffering with Candida for five years and didn't realize it until recently. It all started five years ago when I had debilating diarreah for almost six months. My GYN told me to get off of milk. Problem solved. Meanwhile, I developed chills, low-grade fever, and sweating. I thought I was going crazy. Was I going through menapause? (at 37?) I turned to my doc who tested me for everything under the sun. He said I was in the convescent stage of mono. Fine...get rest, eat right, etc. Still, the fevers, chills, and sweating persisted.
Finally, I saw an infectious disease doctor. I saw him for several months and was tested for all different kinds of diseases. Then, during my last visit, I brought up food allergies since my gut was so distended and I always feel bad after eating. He had me stick out my tongue. Yep, you've got yeast, he said. I was prescribed Nystatin and Diflucan and told to follow a carb-free diet. Well, I used the Nystatin for about three days (swished it around in my mouth and swollowed), and completed the two week course of Difulucan. (I should have completed the entire course of Nystatina and done the carb-free diet). My inability to follow the doc's directions ended up in a severe case of thrush. Last Saturday, I went shopping and had to come home because of chills and sweating. I took one look at my tongue in the mirrow and Ewww Gross! All white and nasty, plus I had a raging sore throat and a painful and distended abdomen.
Okay, learned my lesson. I've started eating a yeast fr
