Morning Ladies....we could also use this thread as a confessional of our naughty foods...lol.

Plan: G.I. Diet
Weight: 130.6
No change from yesterday.

Things I ate yesterday that I probably should not have....a chicken burger, not breaded though, and cooked in canola oil...at home...then soaked in paper towel to absorb most of the oil.

I also snacked before bed which I normally don't do. I had rice pudding (recipe from Rick Gallops book), and roasted chick peas.

Anyone else dare to tell the truth???

OK, I'm going to try the daily weigh-in, if thats alright with you all.
This morning I weigh 186, down 4 lbs. from Sunday. Weird eh? I started eating legal amounts again and I think I lost some water weight, but hey, I'll take it . Sunday will tell for sure.
I lose easier cause I'm a guy, and we've been so busy at work that I really move. Keeps the weight down and my mind off food.
So even though I stray a bit from the plan here and there, if I stick to legal portioning (especially at dinnertime) I will lose.
I was in a slump since Christmas but now I know I "will" break the 185 lb. pyschological barrier and be down to a weight I haven't been at for at least 20 years. I'm pretty excited about this!!!

Chari:

Check your portions, and your water intake. You really shouldn't lose more than 1-2 lbs a week, so even though I weigh-in daily, I understand that I won't lose everyday.

How do you make hummus....I would love to try it. The first time I did the chick peas they were awful...I didn't cook them long enough. Now I rinse them off then dry them, coat them in spices and cook them on a cookie sheet that I have spread a little canola oil on. Bake at around 400 for an hour. I like them really hard and crunchy...and spicey...last time I used: garlic powder, italian spice, and lots of cayenne pepper...they were hot!!!

Quincy: Welcome. I have been in a bit of a slump too but the sun is finally shining and I've settled back into a better eating pattern and have begun to lose again. Good Luck.

Carrot Hummus

2 cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 cup tahini
1/2 to 3/4 cup fresh lemon juice (I use closer to 3/4 cup)
salt to taste
1/2 cup warm water
1 T safflower or olive oil (I used canola)
1-1/2 cups finely minced onion
5 cloves minced garlic
3/4 cup minced carrot
1-1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne

Process chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, salt and water in food processor until smooth or lightly chunky. Heat oil and sauté onion, garlic and carrot until lightly brown. Add spices, stir a bit, and add to the chickpea mixture. Serve with tortilla or pita chips.

Notes: This makes quite a bit. It may be necessary to process the chickpea mixture in two batches, so as to avert a messy overflow from the food processor!

Enjoy

Homemade Tahini
(Sesame Seed Paste)

While Tahini is readily available in health food stores, Middle Eastern groceries, and even most supermarkets today, it is also very easy to make your own.
4 cups sesame seeds
1/4 to 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Preheat the oven to 350° F.
Spread the sesame seeds on a shallow baking tray and bake, shaking frequently, until fragrant, 8 to 10 minutes. Do not brown. Cool.
Put the sesame seeds in a blender or food processor fitted with the metal blade. Add the vegetable oil. Process to a smooth paste, about 5 minutes. Add more oil if necessary, to bring the paste to a thick pouring consistency. Tahini will keep stored in a tightly covered jar in the refrigerator for several months.
Makes 3 cups.

Plan: G.I. Diet
Weight: 130.4
Down 0.2 from yesterday.

It's the weekend and it's gonna be a rough go to stay green. We usually eat out at least once over the weekend, but I'm trying to plan my day(s) so that we are home at meal time and can avoid the restaurant.

Have a great one all.

Cheers

Lou

G'day everyone! I'd say good morning, but it's not morning everywhere in Low G.I. land.
Today I weigh 186 lbs. So close to mini-goal I can taste it

Chari:
Thanks for the encouragement.
Don't let a little weight gain frustrate you. We're in this for the long haul. For me, weight gain or stalling is a sign that I am either eating bad carbs or too many good carbs. Then I have to take a hard look at "everything" I put in my mouth. One thing I have going for me is I don't have to put up with "TOM" as some of you ladies like to put it .
Daily weighing is good to keep track of what your weight is doing and help keep you accountable, but as you know it can go up and down according to water weight which can increase/decrease dramatically depending on several factors. I only have one "official" weight I go by and for me that's Sunday morning. That way if I'm bad Friday or Saturday night (which is easy for me) the increased carbs which usually makes my water weight jump will show up. A little more incentive for me to be "good" on the weekend, when I weigh on Sunday morning!
Hi Lou:
I was wondering if you should try eating out but making good choices when you do. I know it's a lot harder than making good choices at home, but we are going to have to learn to enjoy going out for a meal and still make good food choices at the restaurant.
