Lots of my family members have benefited from my LC ways, I think. Everything DH knows about LC has come from me sharing what I learn and it would be great if he read more himself since I gave him his own Adkins book but I'm still his main source of info.
Our house is totally purged of rice, potatoes, noodles crackers, chips, cookies etc.. so there's that.
Initially he lost what I would guess is about 30 lbs, about a year and a half ago and he has maintained for the most part with maybe gaining back 5 lbs or so but he looks good now because he was a little gaunt in the face.
Just being a good influence and talking about what I will eat and why, does a lot of good to influence his thinking.

i'm glad you can vent here, and we understand. You care about your wife and you want both of you to have a healthy happy long life. That's natural.

Yet, I agree..you have to do your own thing. Be kind, eat your low carb meals and get healthy. If you live my example and don't push her, she just might join you in the way of eating again. if you put her into a corner...she'll never change her mind.

I'm doing Atkins for the first time, and my husband has done it for years. It is so nice that we are on the same plan..it does make life easier. I hope it works out for you.. i think it will.

Concentrate on taking care of yourself. Like said above.

I been where your at and wish my wife would get on bored also, she does not eat take away as much as yours ,but she blows her spending money on eating fast food. I have just given up and don't say anything. I do me and take care of my little one that eats like I do.

When you wife see's you 6 months from now she will understand. Keep at it. I am glad another guy is in the same boat with me. Not so lonely.

Thanks for the kind words from everyone. I am doing better in trying not to pressure her but it aint easy. It is frustrating to see that so many of issues in her life I believe are caused by her poor diet. This video pretty much sums up the situation:

I never even asked my DH to do low-carb with me. Actually it was my thing and I did it for me but when he saw my losses for some reason, out of nowhere he decided to do it also...
Back in the day I did dub him "the drive-thru guy" LOLOLOL

And you are probably right, but it does not matter. This is such a big issue, woven into our very lives, that it has to be a Leading by Example situation.

I agree with Ann.....your best bet is work hard to eat right and get your own good results that she will clearly see. After a time, she'll notice and you don't need to say a word to her about what she should do! I did that with my husband....he just couldn't abstain from the bad stuff for a long time and wouldn't fully join in with me on the diet, but finally when he saw the great results I was getting and how I was dropping weight, he finally made his own decision to eat the way I was eating. You just can't cajole or nag a person into changing anything, they have to want it and do it on their own.

You cannot change a person unless they want to change. My hubby found out how much better I felt and finally joined me. But I didn't nag or tell him he had to change his diet.
