Default Cheese Puffs - Atkins style

I don’t know if this has been posted before, but here goes…

If you would like to try a “cheese puffs” substitute (or “cheesy poofs” for the SouthPark crowd) take a small diameter *pyrex* bowl (maybe 4-5 inches diameter) and put a little non-stick spray in it. Then put a couple of slices of American cheese in there and put it in your microwave oven. The amount of time will obviously depend upon your microwave, but you want to let it cook & bubble until it starts to turn a light brown color on the inside. (This will take some trial and error to get it right.) Let it sit for about 30 seconds, then use a fork to remove the resulting mass from the bowl. (I did say mass, not mess – if it’s really gooey, it isn’t done yet, and if it has the consistency of charcoal, you were a little to enthusiastic with your irradiation procedure. J ) Once it is out of the bowl, let it sit until it is completely cooled off.

When it is properly done, you will be rewarded with a tasty & crunchy treat. I also did one tonight with a little onion powder between the slices… Yum!

ENJOY!
