Question Soy questions from non-veg

Hi, I'm not a vegetarian, but I figure you guys probably know alot about soy. I have just recently been introduced to soy products (milk and tofu) and I love it! I'm so excited to find a lnew ow carb food I can eat. However, I don't know much about tofu. Is it safe to eat alot of it? Does is help in weight loss/ cause stalls? Is it a better choice than dairy products, meat, nuts? Please let me know! Thanks.

Recently I have posted simular concerns about soy. Fortunately, Pecan
sent me onto a thread that explained some things. Unfortunately, I do not
know how to do the same for you. However. you can find the same thread
by searching this forum (vegetarian) in the words "what's with soy" and
come up with the same thread from August 30. I found Pecan's words
particularilly helpfull. Good Luck.

Have you typed in soy under the search forum? I found some great links about soy. Eating it in moderation is ok. BUt I love the firm tofu and I was concerned because it became a big staple inmy daily diet. Turns out from many different articles cited, that soy products in excess are not as healthy for you as you may think. I read about the affects it has on thyroid and was instantly turned away (especially that hypo runs in my family). Now, you have to remember any thing in excess is not good for your body but daily consumption of soy milk and tofu as well as many products have soy active ingredients may add up to a large delivery of soy in a day.I wish I could give you some links, but they are so easy to find.
Good luck
