Anemia?
I've never seen this topic addressed on this site. Hope it's okay to ask a question about people's experiences.
As a regular blood donor, I'm well aware of my hemoglobin number, which has always been in a normal and acceptable range. When it dropped below range a few weeks ago (I was deferred from donation), I wondered. I went back to the donation center the next day, as advised, and the count was fine. Eight weeks later? Down again. Not bouncing back a week later.
I visited my doc. He diagnosed anemia, and urged me to see a gastroenterologist, which I have scheduled to do.
I don't think it's diet related, as I've been LC for more than 15 years. At 72, I could be seeing an effect of (oh no!) aging. I have my eye on some other possibilities as well.
In the meantime, would anyone care to tell me about an experience of anemia--preferably someone who is long-term LC and not young. Thanks.
