Default CAD and Breastfeeding

Hi,
I posted to the main board here a few weeks ago asking about low-carbing and breastfeeding. I read some other posts and I left the idea of low-carbing to contemplate what I really wanted to do. Then I remembered reading the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet book a couple of years ago. I thought maybe that's it! All the health benefits of low-carbing without the the super restrictiveness of some other plans and without all the counting and tracking which I frankly just can't think about doing right now.

So what do you all think? Could this work for me and baby? Would you make any tweaks?

I wish I knew about CAD or CALP in all my breastfeeding years!
As for tweaking, maybe add protein snacks, like nuts or cheese, since you may be hungrier, eating for two. And be sure to always drink lots and lots of water.

I so wish that I'd known about low carb etc when I had my children - I would have low carbed during my pregnancies and breast feeding in a heartbeat!!!! I'm 100% certain that its a much better way of eating and has infinitely more vitamins, minerals etc than refined sugar, wheat etc.

Thanks Ladies.

I did read some posts over at the Parenting board and there seems to be mixed feelings about how low one should go with carb amounts.

At any rate I will give it a try. If I think my milk is decreasing then I will make adjustments. I am trying to wean him from one feeding any way. Any weaning tips?

If it's a day feeding, I would offer him a meal instead, with water. At first he might not each much so he may still need to nurse a little after the food. Try to distract him with an outing or something to stretch the time between feedings.

If it's a night feeding, I have no advice for you! I could never seem to get them on 'my' schedule. I think once they were more active during the day, they slept better at night, less wakings, etc.
