I love the stacked cheese idea. Friends of ours recently posted pics of a reception they were at with a stacked cheese "cake". It seems to be popular here, too.

We skipped the cake entirely. We realized we don't even like cake, and neither of us particularly like a sweet dessert after we've already filled up on a meal. We just had an ice cream truck swing by. People could just get anything they wanted. It was a hot, humid day and slushies were popular. I had a little kiddie cup of chocolate ice cream. No cake smash face, just a taste of each other's ice cream.

My daughter did something similar - they got married at a donut shop (I would have preferred ice cream). After the donuts were gone, everyone who wanted to talk & eat met up at a food truck circle. The kids couldn't afford to feed everyone, so we all paid for our own. Worked out well - we all had fun.

Oh...... it is time to bring back cheese and fruit as the ending to a meal-- teach the next generation the love of cheeses. My personal fav has always been a crunchy mac and cheddar but Im looking for the right cheese to pair with pear. lol Nothing like a bosc. Honey like tones..maybe the norwegian cheese....

The French also do a salad at the end of the meal. The fruit is skinned and cut with a knife and fork...very civilized! I think the cheese comes after the salad if I remember correctly. The slim ladies never eat the dessert.....

Wow, despite having done a lot of hiking in North Yorkshire, including Wensleydale, I have never seen Wensleydale sheep

But do you go hiking in winter? After shearing they probably look like generic sheep.

I bet cake or ice cream done right would have very little sugar anyway. I don't see sugar as a bad thing, instead 'needing it' or 'overdoing it' are definitely bad things.

They are rare. Look for the "blue" faces --- i hope you get to see them. They have been on my wish list.

Easier to get a few head than to find the cheese here.
