Smile Hi from a newbie in Melbourne & a question pls

Hi Everyone,

I'm just getting into this lo-carb way of life and have been searching for info on clubs in australia that follow Atkins or other low carb plans. So this is fantastic to find this web site. It looks like a lot of us are waking up to this new way of eating.

I am looking forward to chatting with you and sharing info.

To start can anyone help me with "canadian bacon"? It appears in a recipe and I just wondered if it is like our breakfast rashers or what? If anyone knows - please let me know.

Cheers, Louloulex.

Hi loulou! Welcome to the forum and to low-carbing.

Canadian bacon is made from the loin, so it does not contain the streaks of fat and lean meat that bacon from the belly does. It's more like ham in flavour and texture, so ham would make a good substitute.
