Smile Craving a hoagie (sub or hero)? Try a 'Hoagie Bowl'!

One of my biggest cravings is sandwiches, hoagies, subs, etc. I came up with an idea to satisfy that craving.

Buy your favorite type of lettuce, shred it up into smaller pieces and line the bottom of a bowl with it.

Next, grab some olive oil and drizzle it over the lettuce as if you're making a salad. Sprinkle some salt and pepper over the lettuce and mix.

Next, grab your favorite deli meats and cheeses, and layer them on top of the lettuce. Finally, add whatever other veggies/toppings you enjoy on your 'sandwich'. Drizzle a bit more oil on top and sprinkle more salt/pepper to taste.

Voila - you've got yourself a Hoagie bowl which really hits the spot for this kind of craving.

Enjoy!

Ummmm....I might have to give this a try. I loooove subs! And have been missing the taste of the assorted meat with cheese and the dressing.

Thanks for the idea!

Not sure of where you are but down in Florida we have the fast food chain Jersey Mike's and you can get any sub like that. They call it sub in a tub. Awesome.

if you have jimmy john's, they will do any sub in a lettuce "wrap."

you can do lettuce wraps at home, as well.

i love deli meat, too....too much.....i have to limit how often i buy it, so i am eating mostly unprocessed meats like chicken breast vs chicken deli slices. yum, yum, yum!

Subway will also do any sandwich as a "chop salad" which has everything in it except the bread.

Second the Jersey Mike's "Sub in a Tub" when you are out and about, but doing it at home, you have control of the quality of the deli meats, cheese and oils.
