I drank/drink usually once a week, Friday, when I go out for dinner, and I usually have red wine, champagne (cheap date, eh) or lo-carb or lite beer.

It has not affected my weight. As long as I don't pig out after a few. I usually only have two or three beer (less wine & champers).

no alcohol for me. i loved beer for years and always enjoyed 2 beers in the evening. I started lowcarbing june of 03 and gave up alcohol. I tried my first beer since then two months ago and it made me feel horrible. immidiatly after one beer i felt like i had a hangover. i got cotton mouth & a headache. since then i wont touch alcohol again . if anyone out there can drink beer without giving you the hangover effects that i had than please do have a beer for me. cuz i miss beer

Awww! Poor Petey! I will definitely have a lo-carb beer for you...

I did have some problems when I first drank in June last year, after starting locarb in May. I had a hangover and shakes, etc, for three days!! (not lo carb beer!). I am a determined drunk, though, so I tried one every now and then to get myself used to it again. I don't drink wine as much as I used to, wicked hangovers.

I drink several times a week. It only affects my weight if there's naughty carb food involved. Normally, that's not the case.

When I first started LCing, drinking used to derail me for a week or so.

Now, I don't seem to have any problem. I will have a few glasses of wine on a Friday night, or the odd glass during the week with dinner. I've also had low-carb beer here and there and it's fine, too. Good with chicken wings.

I went on vacation for two weeks. I just got back. I drank alot, almost everyday. Most nights it was wine, sometimes rum (yuck), milk punch, hypnotiq, passoa (but just one drink, the rest wine). I didn't gain any weight.

That being said I never drink usually except on vacation. I could never drink every week, alcohol just doesn't really appeal to me. My drug of choice/addiction was pepsi/coke. I have not had any since before I started Atkins last February.

I drink alcohol just about daily. Usually wine, but also lite beer and spirits. I always keep it low carb. I did not find that it hindered my losing, nor has it kept me from maintaining.

I am intending to have a regular drink when I am maintaining (almost there ). I've found that it I can drink less on lo carb as it seems to go straight to my head ( a really cheap date ).
I agree that the real danger is drinking a little too much then hitting the wrong kind of food. That's where I will need to be wary, I reckon.

Unhappy

Well a lesson learned here!!
I made this awesome Liebrmilch wine a while back, and I have been having 2 glasses, sometimes 3 a night BAM!! my weight shot up about 4 pounds and stayed for over a week, which is really unuseally for me.
I racked my brain trying to figure out what the heck I was doing???
The only thing that made sense was that german wine, it is a lot sweeter then what I normally make
I should of known better!!

2 nights now,NO white wine, one pound gone

SO lessen learnt is watch the sweeteness code of wine, stay with "00" a rare time a "01"

Kathy

Wine, whenever I want, usually on weekends--no problem at all. Caffeine, too.
